Adem1534's "F-35" M2 build thread

I had a dream the other night, and the future of my M2 was born.

I will be modelling my M2 after the Lockheed Martin F-35B.

There are three variants of the incredible F-35. The A, B, and C. The B variant is capable of short take offs, and vertical landings.

My liscense plate will be "F-35 M2".

My car is Mineral Grey, DCT. I figure going with the high tech theme matched the cars personality with the DCT transmission.

My first mods will be:

- MPerf spoiler
- Blacked rear reflectors
- iND Black Grill with M colors
- iND front splitter (was told will be in development right away)
- iND side skirts
- Medium tint side and rear windows
- Exhaust tips (make to be decided, any ideas?)

Future Mods:
- Suspension upgrade (don't know what yet)
- LCI taillights
- iND diffuser
- F-35 sticker decal on gas cap. (will be very subtle, but hopefully a nice personal touch).
- MAYBE a black stripe decals like of the Mperformance stripes but all black and thinner. Also, only on the side.

Those are just what I can think of.

By next year, I want the car to clearly reassemble the F-35.

Cheers. I will use this thread for my car. Hopefully this is in the right place.

SO EXCITED!!!!!

I'd say, we already have greater things than what I grew up with in HALO.

I was about to post a thread of my car too as some parts are ordered but wanted to wait for some images but you solved that with the F-35!

Gloss/matte black exhaust tips and smoke the LCI tails.

I think everyone who gets this car now will need to get LCI tails when they are available LOL.

Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Do you know if iND are going to be developing tinted rear reflectors?

I am about 99.999999999999% sure are. That is what they do. They will also have body colored. And they will sell painted front reflectors.

I've been thinking what to do here too.

1. Have standard tips black chrome plated ( costs less than $100 )
2. Once parts are available to order i'm considering ordering 1 off standard tip and 1 off titanium performance tip and see if they will fit.

I know they don't fit the M3/M4 but they are slash cut and have guide pins. Diameters i believe should be the same.

Not to spend more of you money, but since you like that F-35 and it looks stealthy with a matte paint, consider getting an Xpel Satin wrap on the MG. Here is an F80 M3 with the Xpel satin wrap (also for protection). I think it will look sooooo good.

Yeah, MG was 2nd on my list, but damn do I love BMW Blues, thus I went with LBB. I still think LBB could look damn good in an Xpel Satin wrap. The only thing about a full wrap is they can get expensive to do the whole car.

Yeah, we'll see what they quote me here in CO. Perhaps there's a cheaper alternative to Xpel?

There are alternatives such as the 3M wrap and Suntek wrap. As far as I know the 3M products show yellowing and are inferior to that of the Suntek and Xpel. I've heard good things about both Suntek and Xpel, so those are the ones I was looking at. I was doing some research a few weeks back and Suntek has a 5 year warranty while the Xpel has a 10 year warranty.

How much of the 5-6k for the Xpel is the wrap itself? How much do you think I'll save if I do the 3M of Suntek over Xpel?

You need to do the full xpel stealth wrap! Give it the matte/satin look! If I was getting MG that would be one of the first things I would do!!!!!!

Honestly, I think the 5K or 6K is mostly labor, however I think it all depends on which shop does the install as well. The closest detailer to me only does Xpel and I am awaiting a quote from my dealer (As it will be done as soon as it arrives, provided my PCD request doesn't go through - which I anticipate due to EPA/CARB). I am only getting the full front done at this point and maybe the mirrors. I think the rear rockers already come with Stone Guards installed. You'd probably have to look around and get quotes for full wraps, but realistically you may be able to find shops that only charge $4K, but who knows about the quality of the work. Head on over to the F80/F82 forums in the detailing section http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=630. I'd also check your regional forums as well because you may be able to get an idea of the cost by region.

Can't wait to see your "project" Adem1534! Yes, that wrap would look amazing! Even if you just left it MG, those mods are going to make the car look menacing. I am going LBB, but MG has quickly moved up to my second choice easily.

I do like that you are going DCT to match your F-35 theme, makes sense. That is a gorgeous fighter jet btw...

You may want to skip the m colored kidney grille that will remove stealth and cause an rs3 air defense system to shoot it down

I remember that thread - I am 99% sure I said in there that it was the best looking F80 on the planet.

Adem, please feel free to make the best looking M2 on the planet.

The P car dealer wanted $1250 to do the bumper of my 981CS.

Not only is it labor intensive, it is "you get bent over" intensive.

My recollection is that Xpel has some sort of self-correction abilities? But the details escape me at the moment...perhaps that's why it seems to be the most expensive.

Yea, it's expensive, especially when talking about wrapping the full car. Here is a video I watched on it and was pretty cool to watch the way they install these things.
