I installed H&R Sport Springs on my F36. Drop is decent, not as much as I was expecting to be honest. Makes no sense how high the stock F36 x-drive stands.
Sway bars limit body roll. There is no real advantage to regular every day driving so no need for them. If you're gonna go with the H&R springs, be sure to swap out the shocks. I installed Bilstein B8 shocks on the rear only. I think for the F36, it might be the better setup considering the issues some members had with running the H&R springs with B8's on the front. So far so good. Ride is great and haven't had any issues yet. The potholes here in Montreal don't make things easy on our cars. Here's a pic with the H&R's installed. Honestly, to me, it doesn't look lowered. Looks like it should have come this way from the dealer. I may swap these out for coilovers this summer. |

You just need to swap the H&R springs for cosmetics lowering. OEM shocks will be fine for a while especially for the streets until you get coilovers.
+1 All the springs in the market for F36 X-drive only lower slightly, back to the RWD M Sport oem height. Still better than the SUV or X4 height lol. Remember to do an alignment after it settle for about 1-2 weeks. Here is mine on H&R Sport with M Adaptive Suspensions with 18" 225 winters and spacers for reference. |

The drop is pretty even. It's just so high stock that it doesn't really seem lowered. But when you stand next to the car, the roof line is pretty low. I feel like the car is somewhat sleek and "low-profile" and even though there is still wheel gap the car as a whole looks lower than most cars i park next to lowered or not.

Depends what kind of drop you're looking to achieve. The H&R springs lower it enough to look better and give it an OEM look. If you're looking for something more aggressive, I would definitely go with coilovers. If I had to do it over, I would go coilovers 100%.

Yes, if you hate cornering and driving aggressively with your steering inputs causing the car to move quickly, and want to maximize weight transfer to the outside wheels, I highly do not recommend sway bars.

I would personally get coilovers instead of springs. The main reason is that I can dial in the height I want. The second reason is that springs may give you an uneven drop and with OCD that would drive me crazy.
Here is my car lowered on KW V1s. There is about 1/2" gap between top of tire and fender.

xDrive f36 definitely is higher in the front. I have the RWD version with M-Suspension. I am Interested in lowering a bit ( even though I already scrape )...

Hi! Restarting the thread. So I'm living in Sweden and there is a company here who has a partnership togheter with H&R. I'm looking to lower my 420D 2014 30 mm (Sorry dont know the measurements in inches) both rear and front. But on their website they only have 30/20 lowering springs for the F36 model. So I called them today and they said I could use the 30/30 lowering springs for the F30 model (rwd cause mine is rwd too), cause according to them its pretty much the same car basically just with different specs. So my question is: Is it possible to use those lowering springs on my F36 even tho it says that they're meant for the F30?
Sorry for my bad english |
