Carly for m235i?
Is it possible to use Carly for the M235i for coding? From what I gather it looks fairly straight fwd vs the other option.
I just want to code the digital speedo, but after reading the Esys stuff I am still a bit perplexed how it all works (VAGCOM was fairly easy..this seems a bit more confusing). So I noticed Carly can code but not sure if anyone has used it for the 2 series..as it seems to recently been added to the F series? Thanks. |

Take a look at their 'current projects' link: http://www.mycarly.com/projects/bmw-app/
Coding for the F-series is in 'internal testing'. |

Assuming F series programming in Carly gets to the capability level of the other BMWs will Carly eliminate the need to use the ENT cable and E-Sys?
I want to get an OBD adapter for my car but like the additional security of the OBDLink vs. the one used by Carly/BMWhat. If I am going to need to get the cable and learn the software anyway I will just get the OBDLink and use with Torque. If Carly will handle the coding and provide data to apps like Torque I will go with the lesser security and use the Carly adapter. Thanks! |

As much as I like Carly for coding older models with their Bluetooth adapter, I'm a bit disappointed in their inability to get coding finished for F-chassis now that those cars are in their 4th year of production. While the E-chassis cars used a "bus" system, the F-chassis uses an actual network, hence the requirement for the ethernet cable used with E-Sys and the Gen-2 adapter for Carly. We just took delivery of a 2016 228i M-Sport convertible (F23) to replace the 128i, and I had to use E-Sys 3.27.1 and a newer psdzdata plus the E-Sys "launcher" to code the new car. Once you get the hang of it, it's really pretty simple to do FDL coding for KOMBI, FEM_BODY, and HU-NBT2 modules. I'll continue to use Carly for reading/clearing codes and their other features, but I'm afraid it'll be a good while before their coding capabilities will allow you do more than just the KOMBI features.

I received my Carly Bluetooth adapter today and tried it in my 335is with both Torque and Carly on Android. Torque seemed to have no issues and as an example, the tach gauge matched very closely to the real tach in the dash. On the other hand, the tach gauge in Carly seemed to be running 2-3 seconds behind the real tach. Is that normal?
Thanks! |

From my experience with Carly, yes, the tach reading seems to lag behind the car's tach. Not sure why there's so much latency. You can adjust the connection speed settings in Carly to see if that might speed things up.

No problem. I'm watching closely at each update of Carly to see when they'll finally release their F-chassis coding capability. But honestly, it was not all that complex to use E-Sys and code all the things I wanted instead of just dashboard features. From what I can tell, there's only 3 modules that you can actually do useful FDL coding with, so maybe they'll release coding for all of them instead of just KOMBI.

Hi,
I just noticed on Carly website that BMW F2x (2013 - now) is now available. Anybody try this on M235i?? My car is coming end of May and I would like to do some minor coding (LED lights etc). I think this looks pretty easy to use with iOS. It looks like Android not yet available. Cheers. |

Haven't used it for code-checking/clearing yet, but the F-coding is still not available, despite numerous recent updates to the application. We're now in Q2 of 2016, F-coding for Android was promised by Q4 2015 - they keep saying it's still being "tested". Frankly, I'm relegating Carly to diagnosis and other functions and doing coding with E-Sys on both of our F-chassis cars. Pretty disappointing that it's taking them this long to get the coding thing down, especially since their coding for E8x and E9x cars works so well. Apparently the new network vs. the old canbus interface has thrown things way off schedule.

F coding has been released on Carly. Pretty limited right now. I only show two available ecu's for coding. KOMBI and Lights.

Is that Carly for IOS or Android? I just got an update last evening on my Android tablet and there was still no F-coding available. If all it's going to cover is KOMBI and not FEM_BODY and HU-XXX, it's not really going to do much. I really like it for code reading/clearing and parameters, though.

Bumping this thread. Looks like the newer version 22.90 works with F22 fully supported now.
Anyone using it? Keen to get this happening but don't want to drop the $ on the adaptor if it's not going to let me do coding, and can't test with the free app without the adaptor. |

The F22 is a bit more restricted, but there's constant updates adding extra coding options for F22's. So far I've added digital speedo, red sport gauges, door lights on reverse and a lot more. I'm just waiting for audio beep on lock and unlock |
