Much mentioned PRE and POST flash of N55 by BMW

So I've searched a lot and found mention of this pre and post flash, whereas COBB doesn't support N55s with newer software.
Just bought the car, and not sure If I want to go JB4 or COBB route (pros and cons to both)

Does anybody know the difference between pre-November version of ROM and post -November (the one COBB is still having issues with)?

If your car has 98G1B (newest ROM) to my knowledge, you should not go Cobb as they do not yet support that version.

I level actual:
E89X-13-03-504

Programming data: 49.04.000

My understanding is regardless of I level, new flash is problematic?

From what I have read and seen throughout the years, cobb has offered very little support on there product. Just a few months ago they announced they will drop the bmw from there lineup at this time, so what ever if out there that's it

Makes sense. People haven't been able to crack BMW's DME encryption (though, it is just a matter of time). Even Dinan dropped flashing and went the piggyback route for newer cars. Since Cobb is a software-based solution, the BMW market has a very limited future for them.

Currently Cobb only supports the 98G0B ROM version, and the latest PPK is up to 98G1B. AFAIK, they are working on supporting the newest ROM. So we can either install the latest "supported" version, or we can install the newest version but you'll have to wait on Cobb to release an update (don't know how long that will take).

That's my understanding as well, but far as actual BMW flash - ROM versions... stock, what are differences?

I'm not sure, you'd probably have to ask Cobb or BMW.
