people driving super slowly towards a green traffic light with nothing in front of them, and then bolting through as it changes to red, leaving me stuck there. Twice!

I found a good use for spotify though - search 'angry music' and press play. Ah, thats better.

Driving standards these days is dire. I keep being told the driving test is much more difficult than back in my day. If it is, it certainly doesn't show.

Where do you start with this one?

You don't need any training to take a driving test (theoretically).
There is no follow up training or testing.
There is virtually no accountability for poor driving, disregard for the laws, or courtesy for anyone else on the highway.

(Mind you we're all perfect aren't we?)

How do you expect things to turn out?

This very thing happens to me almost everyday just after leaving work. Even more annoying is most of the time the 'safe' and slow driver in front usually drives through amber or even worse gambles on red

my commute is 90% motorway so the usual undertaking and middle lane twits ruin my drive.

This mornings example of undertaking...

M42 is smart motorway that can use the hard shoulder as additional lane during busy periods. However more often than not it is clearly signposted on overhead gantries that hard shoulder is for those people exiting at the next upcoming junction only. I'm in inside/slow lane because I'm not taking the next junction yet many people think they can quickly nip from the inside/slow lane into hard shoulder to undertake us all forcing their way back into the inside/slow lane just before the junction. This happens everyday when hard shoulder is open.
