F1 vs Super bike, channel 4 last night.

Did anyone watch it? I thought it was OK apart from the annoying voice over man talking to us like we were children.

I like both Coulthard and Martin, I wasn't surprised that the car beat the bike but the surprising thing for me was how much better off the line the bike was and how quickly the F1 car came back at him.

Obviously a cold day so both would have been quicker/better with summer temps.

Didn't see it but thanks for the heads up - just popped it on record for tonight

I think Guy Martin is a great character.

A "fluffer" show for Channel 4's F1 coverage but very entertaining nonetheless, well worth a watch on 4OD if you missed it.

F1 car thrashes anything on a track though for obvious reasons, Moto GP is far better to watch though, incredible skill and bravery on show.

DC and Guy had quite a good craic going on.

Quite enjoyed the bit where Guy said that Red Bull probably employ someone to warm DCs gloves for him.

Yes a Moto GP bike would have been more of comparison but still enjoyed it.

Dave.

Many years ago I was doing some work at Ilmor, mclarens engine supplier. They'd not long had a celebration party or Christmas party and mclarens two drivers attended, at the time hakkinen and coulthard.

The comments where that hakkinen spent all night talking to the engineers about how to make things better and coulthard spent his time generally thanking every one for their work. Both respected but coulthard got the thoroughly nice chap comments.

Agreed.

The who exercise was pointless.

Comparing a modified production bike to a pure prototype. The programme presumably had no access to a GP bike which would have made a slightly more interesting comparison. IMO the GP bike would have won the quarter mile, and would certainly give a much better show on the brakes. But ultimately, the GP bike can produce 2 G of braking, an F1 car more than double that. And on the fast corners where aero is at its most effective, the F1 car would disappear from any bike.
Obviously it was guy Martins show and he rides a bmw...... No bmw in moto gp.... And those bikes don't get lent out.....
I was really disappointed that they never took guy out in a two seater and then couthard on the back of a bike...
