iPhone 5se
What are your thoughts on the iPhone 5se?
Personally, I've never liked large phones. I like a phone that can fit in my pocket and I can use with one hand so the iPhone 5 size for me is spot on. I've also hated the Play School styling of the iPhone 6 with the rounded edges. Always thought it looked, well, cheap. So to get the features of the 6s (bar one or two) in the size of a 5 is attractive. As my current iPhone 5 is dying, I might pre order the se tomorrow. Thoughts? PS first person to bang on about Android vs iOS gets a fine Last edited by Nobby Clark; 03-25-2016 at 06:03 AM.. |

I agree, it looks like the perfect iPhone - quick as a 6s, neat as a 5. Go for it.

And at only £359 it is good value too. Go for it .

I'm still deciding whether to order one or not. I had a 5 but was never sold on the bigger screen. It's a phone why do you need a massive screen? When the 6 came out I had little choice but to upgrade to that as there wasn't really any other alternative.
I've had the 6 about 18 months now and the battery is awful and my home button is playing up but I feel like the SE will be like going back to my 5 in terms of design. Just wished they'd done something with the looks a bit more and put the better finger print reader in. |

Just changed my 5 for a new 5S and I can see why Apple are reverting back to this style and size. It cost me next to nothing to change, a better package and with 4G super fast. There is a good reason that Apple are still manufacturing and selling the 5S its because not everyone likes the size of the 6 or 6+.

Funnily enough I changed over from 5s to 6s yesterday. Feels huge at the moment but sure I'll get used to it. Thought about the new 5se but my short range eyesight is getting worse so bigger screen is probably better. Sure as hell not getting bifocals...

5E looks good to me - I far prefer the size and the square-edged slate design of my personal 5S to my larger and round-edged work 6, and the faster processor in the 5E will be a useful performance bump.

IMO this phone is pretty cynical from Apple - specs aren't actually that great - poor screen, camera from 6 not 6s, no 3d touch, older fingerprint reader, design unchanged from a phone that's yonks old.
It's purposely designed to be a mid-range phone with a mid-range price. But don't think it's a high range phone at great value. There's plenty of other Android phones out there that SIM only are cheaper and better all around. |

Ordered mine first thing this morning, been holding on to my second hand 5s because I hated the size of the 6. This is perfect for me, very happy

The main camera is the same as a 6S, the facetime cam is the same as the 6. I agree the design should have perhaps been updated but once it goes in a case, most of the aesthetics are lost. For an phone with current spec bar, an older fingerprint sensor, no 3D touch (where the novelty wears off quick) and no barometer. I think at circa £300 cheaper technically it's a bargain. |

Apple clearly noticed lots of 5s still being sold, so this is a cheap refresh for them. Bung in a faster chip, and hey presto, a new phone.
I will upgrade my 5s but probably wait and see what they release in Autumn. Can't see point of upgrading from 5s to SE as 5s processor copes with everything I have comfortably. |

Exactly what I want....
I've never really been happy with the 6, I want a phone to be convenient and fast with a good camera There are no other phones to touch this for performance at this size...I have a laptop and a tablet for watching videos etc I reluctantly changed to a 6 because I prefer Apple to android, and the 5 was a bit too slow after all the updates it had had over two and a half years. All that said, I hope it wasn't rose tinted glasses and I want my 6 back haha |

52% of iPhones in active use have 4" screens or smaller, that's a lot of people who might want to upgrade but want the smaller form factor. I still have an iPhone 4 as my 'work' phone and a 6 as my personal phone (yeah, two handsets because the cheating greedy UK carriers don't want to support two lines on a single SIM - like Orange used to). Anyway, tempted to upgrade the 4 to a SE.

Not strictly true, the iPhone 6 rear camera was an 8 megapixel job and 1080p, while the iPhone SE is 12 megapixels and 4K, same as the 6S, and has the A9 image signal processor plus retina flash for low-light. Difference is the 6S has OIS and a better front facing camera, so the SE is all-round better than the 6 but yes not quite as good as the 6S if photos are your thing. Built to a price...?
