Automatic Shifter Removal?

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the automatic shifter and the surround?

I've seen a fair few people have replaced the automatic shifter with the M Performance carbon fibre cover and also have the carbon/alcantara surround, I just can't figure out how to remove these without breaking something...

Try this thread....http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...9#post19163499...... I posted some info in there on the shifter and surround removal and also a link to an F30 thread which is helpful for the shifter removal.

Basically, the shifter surround just pops right out. Very easy. Just use a plastic trim removal tool and pry up along the edge and it should pop right out and the new one just snaps right in as well.

For the shifter, you need to remove the plastic insert that has the R,D,M/S+/- markings on it. It is held in place by adhesive and you should be able to pry up on the edge and get it off. Then remove the torx (T8??) screw that hold the trim piece on. When you put the new trim on, make sure to re-use the existing white plastic piece from the original trim assembly. If you have any issues, let me know.
