2016 340i MPE video

Took some quick Android/iPhone videos today of my 2016 340i with the M-Performance exhaust. This is not the full MPPK kit. Apologies for the amateur video editing. First time with Adobe Premier

Sounds amazing! I can't wait to get an exhaust on the 340!

Sounds great, how long has the exhaust been on your car?

About 3 weeks and 1100 miles. Installed at the port. I had a friend drive for a few or those runs so I could hear for myself. Sounds better than I thought. VERY quiet in the cabin compared to my 335is exhaust as its lower pitched. I hear more popping and crackling in the cabin than exhaust noise but it sounds muffled on the inside quite well. Definitely happy with it but wish it sounded more like the 335is exhaust.

Hope this helps for people who have been considering it. I think for a lease it makes sense.

Its hard to find good "real world" vids.

I wish this was the stock exhaust. It sounds fantastic and would easily be on par with what Mercedes and Jaguar put in the C450 and XE-S.

That being said this has me super excited for the release of the MPPSK

Thanks! Filmed with both an iPhone 6S and my Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The Samsung takes much nicer video and seems to have better quality mics too.

I was really looking for videos when doing the production waiting game so thought I'd share for the group and for others who may be counting down the days, calling the 800 number, etc. etc.

I agree, this should be the stock exhaust. It's not offensively loud by any means and really suits the sporty character of the car.

Very happy with my 340i. The handling and suspension is a huge improvement to me. The damping, shocks and sure-footedness is definitely a class or two beyond my old 335is. BMW has done a good job on the LCI!

Agreed! I am very happy with mine as well! The adaptive suspension is phenomenal.

Cheers!

Woohoo! Nice video! I still like the other one better!

In all seriousness, it does sound very quiet. Unless that's just how it sounds being recorded? I guess I'll find out later this week!

The MPE isn't really meant to be all that loud.. Kinda just amplifies the stock exhaust IMO. Although on my car when I still had the Dinan stage 2 it really screamed at the higher RPM range. Now my car is back to stock cause my lease is almost up and it's way to quiet My MPE is up for sale if anyone is interested btw.

I test drove a 340 on Friday and was pretty surprised at how the stock exhaust burbles quite a bit (just not as loud as MPE). These cars are gonna sound pretty mean with a more aggressive exhaust design.

340i6MT, since you've had the mpe for a while, could you answer a few questions for me... I just had the mpe installed this weekend on my car and it seems a bit off. During city driving the exhaust noise inside the car seems to be very deep at about 1000 -1500 rpm. In fact that's when I hear it most. At higher rpms it seems a little quiet. Are you hearing really deep sounds at low rpm?

At this point I'm wondering if it was not installed properly at the dealer. Thanks.

Yes, mine sounds the same. It seems to resonate more at the lower RPMs in the cabin. Otherwise, it's pretty quiet inside the cabin. Again, my perspective and reference is my 335is stock exhaust which was louder throughout and had an ever slight drone with the left flap open.

Just picked up my 340 w/ MPE and my brief comments :
-sounds great! Glad I added it to my build
-loud cold start (wake up old bitty neighbors)
-deep low frequency sound during tip in

Don't hesitate to add it to your order!

Thanks for the video, I was going having a tough time deciding whether or not to get the MPE and with no info about MPPK for U.S. its the next best thing for a lease....

Yes, agreed on the sound at tip-in. Good way of describing it.

Curious, what do you think of the B58/340i vs your M3? I recently hit the 1200 mark on my 340i and I am extremely impressed with the B58. It's very linear feeling and doesn't run out of breath like my N54 did in my 335is. It pulls and pulls and sounds great. Very very happy with the B58 post break-in. It almost seems the engine/boost was crippled before the 1200 mark. Who knows...

I agree - the 340 pull is amazing, definitely better than n55 with mppk. Meanwhile this is in comfort mode. In sport mode (from PCD experience) it's s rocket ship. Compared to the F80 - well that's another league - call it the "snap your neck" league. I'm sure b58 with mppk will be damn close and will definitely require sticky tires and a LSD. All in all I love the 340 as a daily - absorbs Michigan bumps meanwhile can get sassy when needed around a circle of death.
