Storm Katie
Have been awake since 1am listening to Storm Katie - house making lots of creaking noises and several tiles have come off the roof judging by the almighty crash I heard. Hope none have hit the car.
SWMBO has managed to fall asleep but my brain is doing 1,000,000mph thinking of what I might have to fix, and what else might go wrong. My brain picks up on the slightest noise - can't switch it off FFS. Anyone else get this? Oh yeah and if anyone's a roofer let me know |

Same here, spent Friday, Saturday building new shed, outbuilding, wondering if it will have a roof when I go look!

Good news... The numerous tiles I heard falling were actually the neighbours.
Bad news... They have taken out some plumbing and an extractor cowling on my house. Still, could be worse - I could be arranging scaffolding like my poor neighbour. |

My garden is now a swimming pool...
But worse than that, last night the wind blew one of my fence posts away just far enough to allow the side gate to swing open and BOTH dogs went off for a walk. Considering one is a miniature Chihuahua and around 6" tall we all thought that was it - 3 dogs lost in one year. Thank Chr**t we found them 90 minutes later.... someone took in the Jack Russell, the Chihuahua was found by a neighbourhood kid curled up shaking with fear on someone's doorstep... some seriously but clenching moments I tell you.

Our fence blew down in the winter storms, luckily it was to an adjoining garden. Ballach our Dalmatian thought it was great having a 2nd garden. We now have our fence posts supported with a cross member - wood across 3 posts for mutual support. Works well and means can hang stuff from them as well. |

Barely slept a wink either. I finally crashed at 2am but the storm kept waking the kids so we were up with them several times.
This house was making some crazy noises through the windows highlighting yet another job we've been putting off for too long. Haven't ventured out to assess any damage yet! |

So different up here, (for a change).
Still, not a breath of moving air. Sun breaking through broken cloud. Light reflecting through 'jewelled' raindrops hanging in the trees. Snow capped mountains, enhance a relaxing vista. Birds singing, telling us spring is in the air. OK, we've had our share, (Saturday night for one). Nothing worse than hearing the house creaking and groaning mid storm, the crashing sounds, waiting to find out what state we are in after it subsides. Even worse with a power outage. Feel for you guys. |

Just back from a rather short walk with the dog.
Local river (Penk) has broke its back, numerous trees down blocking trails. Will be out later with neighbour and chainsaw. So spot of flooding and some snow, with storm damage mixed in |

Wind was howling all night here, mingled with bouts of heavy raid. Back fence is totally pissed on one side, otherwise no other damage (that I've discovered yet). Still quite breezey this morning, although suny at the mo. Think I might go for a blast, if I can find some quiet roads on a Bank Holiday Monday!
PS - The mrs spent last night at her house (yeah, weird I know) so heaven knows what damage she might have there... that's why I'm leaving my phone off!

I heard an almighty crash about 1 am this morning to discover an old single skin 40' garden wall had been blown over. Image shows a 1/3 of the 6' wall. I think I know what I'm doing this week. This is not some crazy idea of block paving.

Yeah, I was awake most of the night as well. It was fucking mental. Our bedroom is in the loft conversion of our bungalow, so it always sounds exciting when there's a bit of weather going on, but last night was a bit special. I honestly thought it was going to rip the cladding off of the dormer.
Thankfully everything seems ok this morning. The neighbour opposite has fences both sides on their arse. There's a house a few roads down that has had full on scaffolding and tarp over it whilst a large extension is being done - should be interesting to see how that fared. |

Just had a drive and ring round my properties and thankfully all is tickety boo.
I was actually surprised at the minimal damage there is in this area to be honest. Hopefully that is the end of the shit weather and things are going to brighten up a bit now |
