N55 downpipe noise
Hey guys.
I currently have JB4 G5 ISO on my n55, but i'd like to get a down pipe... I'm most likely going to run just a catless down pipe and a stock exhaust... My question is how loud will the exhaust be? I had a bolt on/straight piped e46 m3 and i couldn't DD it anymore due to how loud it was. Anybody weld any resonators in? or is it not that bad unless WOT? Thanks. |

Not nearly as loud as a straight pipe. It's really not loud at all. In fact, except for on cold start I can't tell any difference at idle. Even part throttle it's not a whole lot difference. It's a bit louder at full throttle but not much.

Noise wise, it's pretty damn quiet on this car! Tune can take care of most of your drones, and oh, keep the flap enabled if you're cruising, otherwise drone. |

It is louder on cold start and WOT, you would barely notice it during daily driving

This is my experience as well. Barely noticeable sound-wise. However, the acceleration is much smoother and there is noticeably more torque. Once installed you realize just how much the OEM DP was choking the engine.

So I will say that it is loud during cold start (15 seconds) and it is noticeable during WOT but it is a pleasant subtle sound while cruising.

it's definitely much louder than stock. it sounds great though. I don't know what this "barely noticeable sound-wise" shit is, but it's more than barely noticeable. here is a vid I took with my DP only (and procede). Not bad at all from the cabin, but it is definitely much louder outside.

The vast majority of us agree that it is louder outside (and I know you love your sound going through tunnels like the rest of us) but inside I barely notice my DPs.

Is your car a 2011 Coupe? I had mine on the rack and there was no secondary cats, and no place to put resonators due to the bends and twisties.

Yup, I have a '11 coupe xdrive, I would imagine you can fit the resonators in the exact same place as where my secondaries are located. I dont plan on getting under my car till the weekend, but I've seen pics in other threads showing the location.
