Got My Production Number Today!

My dealer received their first customer allocation today. I was #1 and got a production number. Build date is 4th week of May and my CA said I would probably take delivery the first week of July.

Thanks! I first thought most of the dealers received their first allocations today but it looks like only a few of them actually did. I feel like allocations might still come till the end of this week.

I hope this is true. Its like they do not know whats going on.

If not, I might try to snag an HEA car if any are still avail. Dont want to wait another month or 2 just for an allocation.

Why is the wait so long? If it goes into production sometime this month shouldn't you see it sometime in May.

If you are in West Coast, it usually takes around 2 months from production to delivery. For East Cost, I believe it's around a month. So my car will finish production in the last week of May and I think it will take 2months to get here for sure since I will have some port-installed parts. Honestly, I would be surprised if it arrives before the 3rd week of July.

Interesting, out here in the Midwest it typically takes around 3~4 weeks from start of production to shipping and final delivery via truck.

Not all dealers will receive an allocation each month

Each month this will happen.

Some dealers will get an allocation each month. Allocations come out in what appears to us to be a random fashion but clearly there is a plan.

For the most part ... Certain parts of the country get their allocations together. For example ... South east. Or .. Midwest. Or Cali and north east one month and southwest and central states the next month etc.

Yep. You can estimate the expected monthly allocations from those BMW provided each for the calendar year. 1-18 per dealer over remaining 9 months. The average probably being 3-5 cars for the year. That's about one every other month.

One every other month for high volume dealers.

Dealers with a single allocation or two allocations will get their allocations months Apart from each other.

For example, a small dealer may not get their FIRST allocation until perhaps three more rounds of monthly allocations, which would be in July , if we are using April now as the first month of dealer allocations.

That's what I thought in the long run too. However, for the first allocations, I thought most dealers would receive it around the same time.

cntzl Have you tried tracking it? Does it come out in your chosen color? I just got mine today and I tried adding it to MyBMW and it comes out as AW even though I ordered MG. This may just be a small bug and might change as time goes by

When I ordered my M235i, it was the same way. It took a couple weeks to update on the website. It showed AW and then finally changed to BSM. You can validate with the order codes from your dealership on your allocation that you got the right color. The website is just for looks and feel.

No worries. I did the same thing. Go through all this hassle to custom order your car and shows up the wrong color would be terrible. Sure its happened before.

I just added it to MyBMW and it showed as LBB (the color that I chose). However, I wouldn't worry since this website is not 100% accurate.
