Can't be done, other than as "show" car. It's virtually impossible, as it's not emissions certified, the airbags are different, the lights are different, and a few other things.

Really interesting...

With all the tuning that you guys can do, and how much you're allowed to mod the car, I wouldn't have thought it's that difficult.

As noted by all people selling "tuning" stuff, it's only legal for "off-road" use. Virtually every tune, even JB4 piggybacks, are de facto illegal. However, the EPA is ineffective (at best) at enforcement on the www, or even local shops.

However, the TSA/Customs is quite effective when it comes to inspecting cars imported from abroad.

I want an F31 335i manual RWD but I can't have that either. Good news is after 25 years you can import one.

For Canada, it is possible to import vehicles 15+ years old. Hundreds of older Japanese SUVs have been brought in under the existing Federal loophole. Of course, none of these vehicles meet safety or emissions standards.

It can be done but a lot of times its costly 6-10K including shipping to get it over. There are companies that specialize in this but that's more of the expensive route. A friend of mines just shipped a 2015 Audi RS6 Avant to the States from Germany and I believe he paid around 7K including shipping.

It might be possible to import the car into Canada, but it would be impossible to register it for on-road use, since this car is not certified for emissions standards (shared by USA and Canada).
