I was quoted $1500 plus shipping for these. Is this a pretty average price for them?

Eww.. replicas. Heavy and will detract from the handling.

If you're looking for a 5 spoke, I say go with the G-games Gram Lights.

Good tires though.

really?

Impressive. But I say, if you're gonna spend the money, wouldnt hte money be better spent improving its performance? Lighter wheels I say!

That seems like a decent price for 19's. I only had mine one for a cpl of weeks before winter started. They look great. I went with the 18's. Trying to maintain some ride comfort.

but are they in 5x120mm, which is what she would need?

On a more serious note, going up in size just because is a terrible idea. I know you don't have an unlimited budget, and I think this is 1 thing you might regret. 19s are detrimental to ride quality, off-the-line acceleration, and both the wheels and the tires cost more! The only they they are good for is the bling.

There are plenty of equally nice 18s if you're looking for a nice change from stock. Just my 2cents.

So why does BMW use 19s on the M3 CSL or as part of their M3 track package (or whatever they call it)?

Mostly for looks/style!

Even if the weight is the same in 18 vs 19 fitment, as you lower the distance from the cylinder wall to the hub you lower the rotational inertia of the wheel. The same power will spin the wheels faster.

M cars also come with those massive brakes, so usually 18"+ is required just for clearance issues.

Very interesting observation, I had not thought of it like that. I had the same reaction as creator8 originally but this makes a lot of sense.

But I'd stick with the M6s, and if you ever got tired of them, you could always sell them for a decent price on the forums.

Not trying to be a smart ass. Only asking because I will be considering going with a 19" but do you have first hand experience going from a run-flat 18 to a non-runflat 19?

no, sorry. I have never even considered 19s. Even 18s are a lot of "style" for me. If I were a track driver I'd want lightweight 16s of 17s. But... I'm not. I just ordered some secondhand csl reps, 18s and staggered. I think I might have to adjust the suspension a bit to keep the car neutral, but I'll post some impressions after I get them.

I think the only reason the ride gets "worse" is when you sacrifice the size (of the sidewall) of the tire for a bigger rim. As long as you still have the same tire on a bigger rim your ride should be the same.

I have the 19" M6 reps on my car from **********s with General Exclaim UHP tires (love the tires...run em on my e60 5-series too). The ride quality is a little BETTER than the stock 18" wheels with runflats. They look AMAZING. I took my car into the dealership for a free oil change and I swear everyone turned when I drove in. The SA and a couple other customers commented on how much they liked the wheels.

I have the sport package and the wheel gap is perfect in my opinion. I personally would not get the 18" wheels...too small. The 19" M6 wheels really set this car off.
