VRSF downpipe and corsa exhaust review

The VRSF downpipe was very reasonably priced (thanks Mike@x-ph), but the full corsa downpipe back exhaust (they make two versions, muffler/tips and full downpipe back exhaust) was a up there with the priciest of 335 exhausts. I knew I wanted the exhaust and I wanted the performance of the downpipe, but was worried that with the downpipe, the exhaust would be too loud and have annoying resonance. From the internet clips, the BMW PE exhaust sounded the best to me, so I worried about the choice of a Corsa. The reason why I went with a Corsa, is I have one on my 700hp 447cu huge cam vette, loved the sound and it has NO DRONE anywhere, even on a monster engine like that. I put 4 different exhaust on the corvette looking for power and sound and ended up back at the Corsa.

Well, I have to say this combination exceeded my expectations in every way! There is no drone anywhere, at any time. The sound is almost exotic. It sounds to me like what I would expect a Ferrari to sound like, if they where to make a 6 cylinder Ferrari. It is that good!

My only comment would be on the sound level. If you are used to sports cars and like a fairly noticeable exhaust note, you will like this. It is not in your face when accelerating gently or when cruising (I would say it is faintly in the background under those conditions), but gets fairly loud with the use of revs, whether using a lot of pedal or not. Even with the easiest of pedal usage, it is impossible to drive the car such that you do not hear the exhaust inside the cabin with the windows up. If you do not want to hear anything in the car, or be noticed when driving a bit harder, this is not the combination for you. For me, it is very liveable for a car enthusiast's daily driver. The best part is no drone. If you tend to more of the luxury side, again, this will likely be too loud for you. Without the downpipe, it would probably be quite mild.

The downpipe and the exhaust installed easily and fit perfectly. No fitment issues what so ever. Very suited to the DIY'er. Fit and finish of both is top notch. The black corsa tips look great on a black car. A HUGE improvement over the stock or PE tips.

I am really surprised I don't see this combination on more cars.

In the 1st day of having the exhaust on the car I had 3 people come up to me at random (fuel station, grocery store) and ask what exhaust I had on my car. They had never heard a BMW sound so good. One person was a BMW owner and wanted to duplicate it on his car.

Can't comment on the performance, as I didn't do a before and after dyno. My car has the Dinan stage 2 on it. The midrange does feel like it has more, but it's hard to tell if that is just my brain saying "it sounds faster".

In summary, all I can say is I can't recommend this combination enough. I'm back in love with my car and want to drive it everywhere and leave my crazy fun to drive cars in the garage.....

Would definitely love to hear some sound clips of this setup! Corsa definitely makes some quality products.

I can't seem to find any exhausts for my e90 n55 that I love with the catless downpipe. Is your car e90 or f30? If it's e90 I gotta hear this thing!

Yes, please post. I've been eyeing that Corsa exhaust. Just had an AR DP involved.

That is close. Does sound throatier in reality. I will see if I can get a good clip or two of the car driving around.

I spoke too soon on one aspect of this system: installation. They give spacers to drop a cross member down to create room between the driveshaft and the cross member. The Corsa pipe is significantly bigger than the stock pipe and wouldn't fit otherwise. Well, even with the spacers, when I hit a good enough bump, the pipe contacts the cross member and rattles. Going to try adding some washers to the cross member to drop it down lower and create even more space.

Corsa and DP is definitely a good combo on the N55.

I have the corsa and agree it's time is awesome, beautiful sounding exhaust, I will admit that I don't have downpipes and the thing is super quiet. I will definitely be getting dps to turn up the volume a bit. I also have the rattle when I hit bumps, if anyone has a solution is live to hear it.

Nice! Reminds me of when I was catless with the PE mod, just without the drone and awful rasp. Sounds great!

Without DP, how does it compare to OE exhaust? You said it is 'quiet'. I am planning to get the Corsa but without DP, so wanted to ask how u like it. Any clips?

I'd actually love to hear the Corsa with a high flow catted downpipe. The Corsa alone doesn't sound much louder than the full stock system. At least not from the videos.
