Snow tires or a Winter beater?

For any of you who deal with the snow and will be daily driving your M, what are your winter plans. I may just buy a $2k winter beater (perhaps an old Subaru wagon), instead of buying a set of winter tires and wheels. I mean, we would need to go no smaller than 18" to clear our brakes, and even then, I may not want to subject the M to the elements...

Just curious as to what others are doing...

I plan to put snow tires on my M2. 2 winters ago I drove my e92 M3 and this past winter I drove my i3. Both had snow tires/rims.

As I do the changes myself, there will be a set of 18" rims + winter tyres.

Beater as well. 2012 Jetta. In addition of winter driving, always nice to have a car that you can park anywhere and not worry about it.

Buy a beater. Can park wherever, crash into things, stress free car to drive around!

And I'm glad i live in Texas, don't have to worry about real winter weather

Driving in the "real winter" is part of the fun though!

I personally believe cars are meant to be driven, and as long as I can find a set of 18's (rim + tire) that's what I'll be doing.

I drive all of my cars 12 months a year. I'm hoping (although I'm not optimistic) that I can use my winter wheels from my M4 on my M2.

That does sound like fun but i don't wanna put up with that weather for a whole winter lol.

I like living where it might get into the 40s for 1 day and then 70 the next day

We had over 17 feet of snow last winter

This winter wasn't as bad, maybe 6 feet total.

I'm sure they take care of the roads better than how they do here in good old Philadelphia!

I'm just going to spend the same amount I would have on snow tires for the M, and buy a beater that I'll run into the ground

That's not all at once. No chains needed for guys in the GTA. Even us guy in the Rockies don't use chains lol
