Recaro/M Performance Seats

Anyone with M235i's know if its easy to install these seats and what would be required.

I know some guys fitted them into 1M's.

Thanks im looking to fit some standard recaro CS seats. They are a lot cheaper than BMW M Performance seats and are easily available. And retrim them in leather/alcantara. With the blue stitching.

The BMW ones are far too pricey. and not easy to find (at least here in UK)

Those are sexy, but I can never imagine spending $7.5K (with stitching) for seats. Hell, you could buy a car for the price of 2 seats

these are not plug and play in a bmw m2. the real thing that makes the bmw performance seats so desirable is that they retain airbags and heating function. They do not compromise safety and features but also do not save much weight.

If you are looking to change your seats in an m2, it would make more sense in my book to get recaro sportster CS and have them upholstered in alcantara and polar blue stitching. They could be custom made to match the m2 better and because they wouldn't preserve the airbag, you could buy sportster CS without them and further save weight.

For those interested, they do fit in the car and require a small amount of work to shuffle the pins around in the connectors on the seat side to make them plug and play. I swapped the factory seat side connector off of the stock seats and used both seat modules mounted to the bottom of the seats. Without these the heaters would not function. After I get the seat occupancy may coded out tomorrow, it should be good to go. Enjoy!

Edit: sorry for crappy mobile pictures, but they're better than nothing.

Yep they look great.

Im struggling to find a pair in the UK. BMW seemed to have discontinued them. IND are pricey and thats before import tax.

That look great! I have been searching for them, but no luck. If you don't mind me asking, where did you source the seats?

Thanks! I got them a little over 2 years ago from the guy who parted out the Dakar Yellow E90 the Powerbeast sold and the buyer parted it out. Even on the second hand market they were not cheap. In fact the price was close to new after shipping and associated insurance costs. They are really nice though. Unfortunately I found out today you can't code out the seat occupancy recognition like you can in the E series vehicles. Looks like I may have to install it into the seat, or under it....

Thy seem straight to me, but the stock seats don't seem out of square to me either so who knows! if anything the driver's seat points towards the middle, not to the left as one review states.

Is there any difference between E87 and E90 M Performance seats? I did some searching and it looks like there are/were different part numbers, but I'm wondering if the seats are any different?

I'm not sure about the E87(?) seats. The difference between the E90 and E92/E82 seats is that the coupe seats are folding for back seat access. These are actually the coupe seats that were previously in Powerbeast's Dakar yellow E90 at one point. We picked them up from the person that bought that car and parted it out. I'm still having issues trying to code out the seat mat, if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated.

I wonder how easy it would be to dye all that yellow stitching to BLUE

The dyeing itself would be quite easy, but it would take a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time and a lot of care.

Actually we almost had them restitched while they were disassembled for paint, but opted not to. Later in the year these will likely end up in a GTS, so they'll be stitched in acid orange if that's the case. That car doesn't go into production until September, so time will tell. We may just look for some European GTS seats to make that car the way it should be from the factory, even in the US.
