So do we like these?? Anybody have them that wants to comment either way?

I'm leaning towards these door sills, stainless steel pedals and m perf steering wheel for my major interior mods/upgrades but can't tell if these are cool or cheesy?

Anybody help?

I looked at them right up to the point i realised they are battery operated and require a magnet glueing to the underside of the door....

Yeah that doesn't bother me too much though; battery-powered makes for an easier self-install. Presumably the batteries last at least a year+ on average?

I've got them and think they look cool; makes me smile after a long day at work I suppose so job done. Got them as they seemed quite a cheap mod but I think BMW have cottoned on to this and put the price up recently.

I'll try and remember to take a photo later when it gets dark.

Both sides in my M2 bowed up and had a hump in the middle. I noticed it when I picked up my car. I pointed it out and they pulled one out and looked at it. Sure enough there was a manufacturing defect where the battery casing attached to the underside causing the hump. They both had the defect. They put it back in but ordered me replacements. Just had the new ones installed last week.

I will say there were some plastic clips holding them in, one of which snapped off when he pulled the old one out. So when you change the batteries you will need to be careful when removing it. The lights are LED so hopefully the batteries last awhile.

If you've got the time that'd be much appreciated.

Taken just now- the logo is the only bit that illuminates which I like as it keeps it subtle

Are these OEM? If so, do you have a part number?

I just installed my door sills. I do have the bulge in the middle where batteries are placed. I did omit one of the instructions to cut the metal piece. Not sure if I should cut into a new car or leave it like that.

had mine installed at port of entry. Just looked at mine closely and this happened to both of mine as well. Got mine in May 2016, so hopefully they have fixed this by now. Plan on going to dealership tomorrow to have this addressed.

My door sills were fine. Instructions that came with the sills were to trim the metal tab which was in the way of the batteries. I opted not to trim the tab. If you remove your door sill you would see that metal tab. I did remove black plastic screw so it won't bulge as much. BTW I have a 2017 and I purchased the door sill from getmybmwparts.com.

The illuminated door sills were part of my build. The DS stopped lighting so I took my M2 in for break in service and fixing the failed sill. It turned into who installed these as the clips were broken and weren't installed properly. The tabs got trimmed, a new set (both sides) installed correctly and now no bulge and all is good now. The dealer I purchased from had to pay for the replacement sills and labor. At least I know they are now installed correctly.

Once I had mine replaced there was no bulge. I also have them in my X6 and 328i and they are perfect. They are a nice touch and not that expensive (relatively speaking)..

The dealership I brought it to needed to investigate who installed the sills, then charged the party that installed them. Initially, my local dealer was trying to pin the cost on me, thinking I installed them. I went as far as sharing my build sheet with the sill art of the build.

Bring it to your dealer you purchased it from if that's possible. Let them do the investigation and fix it to spec.
