Will 1M still hold it's value in the near future?

I'm not talking long term like 15-20 years, but more like 3-5 years now that M2 will be out and probably produced in more numbers.

Yes, the 1M will always remain a limited edition classic for those who dont wan't the problems that come along with the F8x chassis.

Hi mayonaise, I have an F80 and have 10,000km on it. Could you please enlighten me as to the problems I am having?

Um, no. That will be the new M2. The M2 outclasses the 1M in every measurable category. I just don't see any value in the 1M, limited production or not.

IMO with M2s flooding the market, current values will drop but still hold value better than M2s. Longer term values should go up for collector conditioned low mileage examples.

maybe. it'll be interesting to see the depreciation of the m2. i don't think it will be very high as it is already priced pretty aggressively imo.

1m will lose value, but i don't think it will become dirt cheap. don't really see why anyone would want one though.

Those that think newer is better to a fault will never see value in the 1M. It is a mid-market car that has resisted depreciation since day one and I see no reason for it to start falling now.

The 1M is slightly shorter and narrower, and in my opinion offer a less frills uncluttered interior. No doubt the M2 introduction has frozen 1M values somewhat as people watch and wait, I still see them appealing to different types of owners at the end of the day.

Good luck picking up an M2 anytime soon as well, you'll need a car while you wait for that allocation

In 2019 you could likely get a used f80 for $45k or a used 1m for $40k
Why would anyone even consider the 1M
At that point the 1m will be competing with both the m2 and m3/4 on the used car market and likely to drop significantly
Just because it's limited doesn't necessarily means it'll hold value

The 1M is completely different from the M2. I think it will continue to appreciate because:

--Limited Production
--Unique 1 series chassis
--Hydraulic steering
--N54
--Instant and forever great look unobtainable anywhere else

Near term the values may fluctuate a little due to M2 / other cars but I doubt they'll go down.

There will always be something newer. Why do you think that e30's are going for $100k?

Sorry but you can't compare E30 M3 (an icon) with a 1M simply due to availability.

Where is this flood you speak of? I have only experienced drought.

My point was just because something is newer and has better numbers in straight line or on the track doesn't make it a better car. My question to you is if someone was handing the keys to you for a free e30 or a M2, which one would you take?

No value as an appreciating asset. There's nothing iconic about a 1M.

Strange question. Most e30s are rust buckets and there are very few pristine examples. I honestly have no desire to drive either. However, the short answer is I'd take the more valuable one and then sell it.
