M Sport suspension 328xi wagon?

I am looking at ordering a 2016 or 2017 328xi wagon for commuting in city traffic mainly but also as the primary family car. I also have a 1M coupe, so this will not be my weekend car, but for road trips with our 3 year old, we would probably drive the wagon most of the time. My question is whether the suspension performance of the M Sport package justifies ordering the whole package. I do not care for the M Sport body kit that much and I would not want to buy the package unless I could be fairly sure it improves the car's handling significantly. If I do not order the package, I would separately order 18 inch wheels as an option, which is $600. M Sport is $3,100, but it comes with the 18 inch wheels, so effectively I would be paying an additonal $2,500.

What are your thoughts?

I have a 2014 wagon with just xdrive suspension.

Does it handle/feel like my old E90....NO. I don't auto cross or track my wagon and have 2 very young children...so I can't complain too much. Not sure if the newer LCI wagons feel better. Reviews of the LCI sedan imply the steering was improved.

At most I want to upgrade my springs.

Replacing the run flats with regular tires did help.

Thank you. I did trest drive a 2016 wagon with the standard suspension, but the dealer did not have a wagon with M Sport for me to drive. I will probably go back to ask to drive a sedan with M Sport. Not exactly apples to apples, but if I test drive a sedan with standard suspension as well, that might be a more informative comparison.

I'm not sure what the difference between a Msport suspension (704 suspension) and the M adaptive suspension (DHP) feels like. Only read about it on this forum.

MSport does not affect she suspension on USA cars; it's the softest and highest. I ordered my 2014 F31 with DHP and it's surprisingly good in Sport and Sport+.
Doubtful if the MSport gets you any suspension changes post-LCI.

So Xdrive= Msport suspension??

I have just the basic Xdrive suspension w/o DHP.

I know you can get DHP on Xdrive wagons but not the 704 static Msport suspension.
Where as the sedan can be optioned with all 3 variations?

As I recently found out here in the forums, the xDrive does not come with M Sport suspension - only the base suspension or you can have the adaptive suspension.

I reread your post.....I guess on USA wagons you can get the Msport "body kit" but it does not include the Msport suspension. I misunderstood what you were trying to convey.

As several have noted above, all US xdrive cars have the same suspension regardless of m-sport or not.

Having said that, I opted for m adaptive suspension (dampers) on the build sheet for my '16 328d msport wagon (LCI) and couldn't be happier for a daily driver once paired with ACS springs.

Ride height is slightly lower than a comparable RWD m sport. Compliance is good (even on RFTs). And still usable in snow for ground clearance.

Thanks this is very helpful. I did not realize that the M Sport package does not include M Sport suspension changes in the wagon or other x drive cars. I guess I will not order the M sport package, but I would like to hear what others think about the adaptive suspension option.
