Online DVLA Number Plate Retention

Just use the online service!

How good is that, credit where due.

The new process is awesome.. 3 minutes retention document in post and I can switch the plates on the car!

Cracking.

Going to do mine next month and put it on retention for 6 months (whilst I enjoy a new 16 plate )

However, the car was registered from new with my own plate. So although the process to take it off is quick, I don't know what number will be allocated back to my 435 - so I can't get number plates made up ready - which is a bit of a pain........

How much is it now Foggy?

£80.

It allocated my old plate back whilst online and said switch your plates ASAP!

Wasn't expecting that, I presume it will just allocate yours a free one at the point you do it as well.

It gives you a download form for the number plate to be made up at the time as well. All good to go.

Wouldn't be in a rush. I reckon 10 days start to finish including get the certification to Tony. That would leave a few days spare as well.

But I guess you want to sort it before hols like me. I then wait another 2 months when I get home...

Indeed would be good to sort something out. I'm going insane!! Which I had never check yesterday and seen the 0500.. now i can't stop refresh my fucking email and webpages to see if anything has changed.

Just can't understand why mine did it that is the main problem.

My theory is of the orders TRL has in yours has individual leather. Mine didn't seem to change so 'if any' of those orders are held back maybe it's yours, even though all have Pro Media. Gives them erm more time to sort interiors too, don't know, unlikely!

Yeah true could be that I guess. I knew that leather would cause me a problem :-) ah well i'll wait for it, not changing it if it is that.

I've just put my wives private plate on retention, fantastic quick service at last as said above. DVLA issued her original plate back, that was previously on the car. Checked with Askmid to see if it was now on the database, and the vehicle that came back was a Iveco Stratos 6x2 HGV. My wives vehicle is a Suzuki Jimny... Work that one out. Askmid says, if the wrong vehicle show up on our database, which by the way is the most up to date database out there, so they claim. Then contact your insurance company, as they must have imputted the details wrong. No they haven't. I was then told to ring DVLA, which i did. Their database gave me the correct vehicle, my wives Jimny. So as far as i am concerned, that is the one that counts. Very strange. New log book and retention certificate came in 3 days. A dam sight quicker than the 4 weeks it used to take. Thumbs up to the DVLA.
