Apple to Samsung, yes or now ?
Would like to hear the views of people who have made the jump from Samsung (android) from apple.
I have been on an iphone from the beginning and have never considered anything else. However, I am starting to get tired with the whole apple thing and am thinking about doing it? |

Look at the whole market rather than leaving one over hyped brand and moving to another.
I had a samsung some years ago, but also had a sony, and a few of Googles own branded devices. Nexus6 for instance is a seriously decent phone. Wifes currently got a OnePlus X, which cost peanuts and spec wise will go toe to toe with any of the current high end models. |

I've had the iPhone 3, 4, 5 and now 6 - I never bother with the Plus purely on the basis each time my renewal comes up, it seems to be around the release date of the new one.
I changed jobs for a while and had a company phone which was a Samsung S6 Edge, although the camera was very good I really hated the phone itself. Crashed out a lot, laggy, and worst of all was the battery - just shockingly naff battery life. I'd never used a car charger as much in my life as when I had that phone. My iPhone I can charge up over night and by evening it still has ~50% left with moderate useage throughout the day whereas the Samsung would be bleeping saying it needed charging by just past lunch time. iPhone through and through for me, only for phones though - We've got a Macbook pro & it's shite. |

I'm in the same boat, been using macs since the orginal Mac Plus, and even had a orginal Apple QuickTake camera. The currently Apple product line just doesn't feel special anymore.
My iPhone 5 is slowly dying (battery), I'm going to wait for the One Plus 3, due for release soon. Loads of spec, going to be around £200. Honestly cannot wait to try something different. http://www.stuff.tv/oneplus/3/review |

If you want a good camera generally stick to the big names, Samsung Apple etc.. They have huge investment on the signal processing side which is what makes their cameras better.
If you aren't photo mad then pretty much anything else will do at a fraction of the cost. |

Samsung all the way. I switched a few yrs ago and swear by Samsung now (more so for the Android IOS) I like how I can do anything on my phone - Kodi, Showbox etc.
Its unrestrictive open platform partnered with a good high quality finish made it a no brainer for me.

I'm looking to move on from my S4. I was looking at One Plus 3 or Xiaomi Mi5. The camera looks surprisingly decent on the Mi5, sharper than even the S7 in some conditions

no time. I remember my Mrs had an early android phone and I really didn't like it - but now they are just as easy to use as apples. I prefer it also since the back button is on the phone itself rather than having to scroll to get it up like apple.
To put it into context I used apple for around 5yrs and my switch to Samsung a few yrs back was seamless.

Personally i think the camera is pretty good, but maybe others are better? Certainly a massive improvement on the camera in her old Nexus4, but that was pretty crap! The 2 or 3 might be a better option its just we both felt 5 inch screen is big enough, and it seems these days trying to get a decent spec phone without an enormous screen is kinda difficult. The two niggles i have with it, are no NFC and no USB3.0 connector. Both are marginal issues, but for futureproofing you'd imagine both will become a lot more popular, especially once android pay arrives in the UK. |

I had an iPhone 4S, skipped to a Samsung Galaxy 5S afterwards. Best move I ever made, as I run Android on everything else, it made sense to go down that route.
As of last month, I bought a Google Nexus 5X, and went on a 'Sim Only' contract with 3. Used to be with Vodafone, but their reception got worse, as did their customer service! Google handset is excellent, I actually prefer it to my old Sammy.

I've been with apple since the iphone 3GS. My misses was the same till she switched to the S5 last year. She thinks it was a good upgrade however make no mistake the S5 is much more glitchy & unstable. I couldn't stand the thing, with its cluttered home page and slow finger print sensor.
A simple test you can do is go to your home page and move the home page forward & back quickly, the iphone will move back & forth in a very smooth and fluid motion while the android will start to stutter and freeze. I would conclude that yes android is a very smart OS that gives you lots of options to customise your phone & probably has the superior camera HOWEVER the iphone will give you the most reliable experience in a very neat package. |

I used to have androids (Sony, Samsung and a HTC) never said I would go Apple but switched to an Iphone 5s when they released and have never looked back not a single issue of crash or glitch in the time I've had it and it's not falling apart or looking worn like the droids did. I still like it so much I didn't upgrade to the 6s a few months back mainly due to the larger size but am now tempted by the SE but will prob stick until this dies

Have you seen how many Iphone screens are cracked compared to Samsung? Ive dropped my Edge+ a number of times and its fine, dropped my work iphone one time and the screen is fked.
Admittedly the older samsungs aged quickly due to materials (cheap plastic) but the newer range have a much better quality of finish that easily rivals apple. my contract is cheaper as was the upfront cost of the phone and it came with 32gb as standard where as apple still offer 16gb...really? with better cameras and music files that 16gb is worthless. all IMO of course.

The S6 was the best Samsung for a long time. The S5 was ok but felt cheap and the finger print reader was awful.
The S7 combines the best of the S5 (waterproof, SD card) with the design on the S6 (metal) and improved fingerprint reader etc... I wouldn't pay top dollar for a Samsung, but usually after 6 months their latest model can be had for sub £400 making them quite attractive. I used to work there so mine only ended up costing me £220 as they give staff £100 towards a phone and I bought mine around Black Friday when some places were selling them for £300! That all said, the Mrs has just ordered an Iphone 5 SE. It's basically a 6 in a small shell for a lot less money. She has quite small hands so these huge phones are a bit of a pain for her. Also the S6 is very slippy outside of a case which makes it hard to control with one hand. |

Good point on the smashed screens. I always have a nosy around on the tube and 90% of iPhone screens are cracked. It does amuse me. Or the other one, poorly applied screen protectors with bits of filth and crap stuck under them. These people have £600+ phones and then use them with a nasty protector on them. I do wonder about some people.
