Order M2 or M2 CSL??

I'm selling my Z4 and looking at buying a M2.

A friend told me I could put a deposit down for a M2 CSL and wait of it next year.

My Z4, I only put about 7000 km a year and take it out to track/auto cross couple times a year.
My daily drive is an X5 35d.

So my question, should i wait for the M2 CSL?
Is there that much difference?
What will be the price difference?

Thanks for your replys.

There is no official info on a so called M2 CSL/GTS or whatever. Your friend is wrong on that. You can not put a deposit down so far. Other than that, rumors say that the "special edition" M2 will not be on the market before 2018. I ordered my M2 the last days and asked specifically for the special edition M2 and everybody was surprised about the question and promised me that there are no plans so far.

I think if you can wait for the special edition M2, you may want to do that. But always remember: if that car is limited like the M4 GTS, it is very doubtful that you will be able to get one (I don't know your BMW M history, but you have to be "known" by them). So of course you can try to wait and pray that you can get an allocation - but still, price difference will be significant I guess.

Hopefully that helps a bit...

Whatever your friend is smoking, pass it on, I want some!

There are NO plans for an M2 CSL and this will not change.

And if there were, you would likely have to be on the same list as the M4 GTS buyers to get invited to purchase a unit.

I will have to check with my sales person (currently on vacation).

Apparently, his friend put a deposit down and is number 6 on the list.

The CSL might be a dream.Get the M2 whilst it's reasonably(ish) attainable.

If you wait too long you might end up with neither.

Depends what you are looking for. Even if you just want a "base" M2, I'd personally wait for the facelifted version coming next summer (if you can afford to wait). I know I personally would. But I'm more interested in the spicier version of the M2 though.

Still might not be enough for me to pull away from an M3 CP due to 4 doors.

Anyone claiming to have a deposit down on a product that doesn't exist is either lying or dealing with an unscrupulous dealer. They can't take money off you for something they can't sell. Maybe take a deposit that can be applied to another product (again probably a time limit on this), but not one that isn't in production and hasn't been confirmed by BMW.

If you want to do what others have done, myself included, is register you interest with your dealer. If such a car was green lit for production you can then see if you can get a build slot. Its a gamble though as there is a pecking order if it ends up being limited. If you need/really want a car in the next year or so, you'd be better off getting on the M2 waiting list now.

Get the M2 which is real and exists now. CSL version is still all rumors.

Hell, get the M2 and if CSL does come out, sell the M2 and you will probably break even, drove the car for free

Confirmed with a big BMW boss in Germany, the CSL does not exist and there are no plans for it.

I'm still hoping they make a CSL. It's only the 3rd BMW in the last 20 years that I've had any interest in buying out right. The CSL would complete my BMW oddities (at least the one's a made available in the US) trifecta with the 1m and clown shoe.

The GTS selection process in the US was a little easier then the rest of the world. The secret vehicle ownership code was black series, gt3rs, 1m, gt4. Then poof, voucher in the mail. I think the CSL would be something similar if they try to make it "special ".

Can you please give me the contact details of the dealership where he did that? I would love to get some info on that while I can still cancel my order of the "normal" M2.

Thanks!

Did they overlook GT3 owners? Would have ranked them above GT4 owners for priority. Its been confirmed that there will be two CSL concept cars this year. So thats the m3/4 (surely they have to group them as one product) and hopefully something M2 size. The M5 and M6 have to be discounted for their shear size and weight to begin with. More likely to get a CS though rather than CSL. Probably m-perf parts standard, detuned S55 with drive logic and some cfrp parts for 2018 - GT4 price tag. Thats my realistic wish-list anyway. May or may not happen, but one can hope.

I have my name on a couple of dealers' list as well. #1 and 2. They were not able to take a deposit because the car is not confirmed yet.

There are other threads where there are BMW test drivers who've apparently driven an M2 without the n55 in it. I'm hoping there's a CS/CSL in the works but based on what I've seen, it does not appear so.

If you can't wait for the CSL get a Focus RS

I guess when the time comes I'll know if my money really bought me the #1 slot. It's either m2 CS/CSL or used 991 for me. First world problems.....
