2017 X1 changes?
Hi guys, I'm looking at an X1 to purchase in the next month or two. I'm pretty sure it will be a 2017 model as the SOP is 7/16. Anyone know of the changes between MY2016 and MY2017?
Hoping for iDrive 5.0 like the X3 got |

It is hard to say, there has not been any real negative feedback on the X1 so far
and sales are strong with waiting lists in most countries. Most manufacturers only change if there is a perceived dislike or sales slow. If BMW does, I suspect it will more on the tech side to keep up with the competition. At present, it is the X1 leading the standard spec for goodies over the main rivals Merc and Audi, so expect it to be minor. |

Nothing major has changed. Some countries have had their standard and option lists amended. UK, for example, now gets the sliding rear seats as standard. I also just found out yesterday that Australia gets the 19" wheels as standard on xLine and M-Sport trims. All for a slight bump in the list prices, of course.
Recent owners are also reporting reshaped and redesigned iDrive controller. But if you're expecting any major facelifts, etc. it's way too early. I don't think we'll see the facelift version any sooner than autumn 2018. |

As far as I know, none of the rumours about blindspot monitoring have been confirmed yet. If/when it becomes available, it'll most likely be part of the Driving Assist pack and there will be a big price bump. Same with perpendicular parking assist. Official info are so ridiculously vague that nobody can tell for sure. Last edited by KPD; 06-01-2016 at 11:48 AM.. |

BMW makes major changes in model cycles with a "LCI" (life cycle impulse) renovation. The timing has varied, but this usually appears around two-three years after model introduction. The changes can be quite significant, but the basic body shape is usually untouched. I suspect we won't see a F48 LCI until mid 2017.

LCI is typically 4 years after
F30 came out in 2012, LCI started 2016 As far as the seats go perhaps they will allow the sport seats in the X line eventually When the F30 launched you couldnt get sport seats with the luxury or the now extinct modern line in the US. Sport seats are now standard on the F30 with a no cost option of standard seats on luxury line. |

Thanks for the responses guys! I figured there wouldn't be any major updates going on for 2017. Was hoping for the newer iDrive like the X3 got for 2017 but I guess it’ll probably happen with X1 LCI in a few years.
Still will end up getting a 2017 model as I now read that most dealerships that you order from only have 2017 allocations and the factories are switching over production. |

I placed an order today for an X1 sDrive 18d xLine today in the UK.
A couple of interesting items on the order, first the Driver Comfort Package now includes Park Assist (5DP). I also ordered automatic transmission but it has been put through as Sport Auto as the dealer said cars built from week 27 onwards only get this option. If it guest built before then I'll get standard but if after then they will cover the extra cost. Not sure if either of these changes are related to new MY. |

Park Assist has always been part of the Comfort Package (it's bundled with the front/rear sensors). Not surprised the std auto without paddles is being phased out... |

Do you have a photo or something showing the change?

This was the price list I was directed to by the dealers, it shows no park assist. I understand it's an old price list, but if that's what the dealer gives you that's what you go by. The salesman was genuinely surprised when he saw both the seat and park assist were now included especially as he had just sold one the week before which had neither. |

Doesn't matter either way but smacks of a lack of understanding on your dealers behalf. |
