My garage, to paint or not to paint?

The missus has 'suggested ' that I paint the block work on my garage, actually she's been suggesting that I do it for a couple of months now.
I really like it the way it is, kinda reminds me of a bunker.
I am hoping you'll agree with me so please leave a post & hopefully that'll help to persuade her that I'm right thanks

Lock her inside of it. That way she won't be able to see it from the outside.

Thank me later.

Firstly it's block work, not brick secondly 'very council house' really?
Do you have a problem with local authority housing?
Thanks for your input, enjoy your diesel estate car

Paint will eventually flake off. It may take a while, but eventually it will fail. I would go with vinyl siding if you just must cover it. That way you're 1 and done, no maintenance ever.

Could you paint the breeze block and leave the red brick? Vinyl siding is a nice idea but probably cost prohibitive... Maybe you could two tone it white and blue!

Cheers guys, seems you agree with the missus
I was confident that most of you would like the concrete bunker look.
Maybe I should have posted it on the Europe forum, I reckon the Germans would have liked the bunker look.

It will only be the concrete blocks that get painted, or maybe some bamboo screening, the brick work ties in with the house & brick shed.

Thanks to those of you that bothered to post, even though you are all mistaken

For the record, I'm English... Born in Kent grew up in Sanderstead..... I don't mind the bunker look but with the seating area I would paint... Married to so I can be wrong at times... Good luck! go with bamboo screening on the one side...

If we were talking bare concrete, that I can get on board with. I do love exposed concrete, especially with formwork imprints from the wood. Not so much for bare breeze block. Can't say I see much of block work in Germany. Well, on farms I suppose heh.

I do enjoy my diesel estate car. Unpainted block work is still very council.

For reference of what I'm meaning - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...=1475732&p=513

Turn the windows in to slits, add some barb wire and put a few old school aerials on it. Then maybe spray on 'NICHT RAUCHEN' at the garage door. Job done.
