Base audio w/ 82dsp upgrade
I've been slowly upgrading my 335d, and the time has come for the audio side of things to be addressed.
I have a 2011 base audio with navigation...not sure if thats CIC or just pro... I am going to get a Helix 82dsp to take care of the stock EQ settings/amplification. I am then going to get the QM200.3's cause the Jehnerts are out of my price range right now. I figured this setup should give me a good enough sound for around $1000, and leave me room to upgrade down the road if I need to. I am planning on running active for adjustability reasons. I was planning on getting the signal from under the seats. Question on that: Do I need to run both L and R signals into the 82dsp??? I'm assuming that I need both, so my stock balance would work...but I figured i'd ask. Second question: Where do I tap into for the remote switch? Plus, is there any tips or suggestions that you would like to share? Thanks |

I think its worth getting it from Bimmertech
I think its worth getting it from Bimmertech
they can set it up right. Although there base system setup is 1099 without speakers you get a recode to hi fi and a harness and tune . Plus they have support for after market speaker tunes. I am still puzzled why they do a recode but there must be a reason.(might be sound quality) Last edited by ctuna; 05-21-2016 at 09:08 PM.. |

I didnt realize they made a kit for the base stereo system. If I go this route, can I switch back to non HIFI coding??? Just wondering in case I want to sell the car and revert back to stock. $1100 seems pretty steep, but I guess you are getting a few add-ons with this kit. But if getting this, then getting the MBq's your only $250 away from getting a 82dsp plus Jehnert's through some one else. Just sayin |

Who does it for that price?
Who does it for that price?
The Bimmertech kit is complete with a harness a recode and a tune and access I believe to some tunes for aftermarket speakers. Jehnerts are better speakers. Does there setup involve a recode ?(the one with Jehnerts) I know low level signal are the more correct way to do from a sound quality standpoint but the 82dsp takes high level Inputs to . MBQ's can be had for 220 to 250 presently until stock runs out. You would have to have the ability to code it back to stock if you want to revert from a code to hi fi to sell the car. Please discuss. Most of the quality kits from the known quality sources are running well over 1500 to my knowledge.(more typical now is around 2k or more with the better speakers and components) Last edited by ctuna; 05-22-2016 at 03:42 PM.. |

I dont know If I'm allowed to discuss pricing on here, but I will PM you with the details. I'm sure that a recode to hifi is the correct way to go about it, plus the least amount of EQ that needs to be adjusted, the better, I suppose from a audio purity point of view. I guess the more EQ that is applied, the more cross over distortion and/or artifacts can be introduced. IDK I'm no audio engineer. The Bimmertech Pnp solution is enticing, seeing as you also get the amp rack to mount the amp. My car did not come with any such thing for amplifier mounting. I am assuming that Bimmertech's harness mounts at the back of the HU??? Seems so much more simple to just intercept the full range at the seats...is there a particular reason for going behind the HU? Wow, never really looked much further for Gladen stuff then on Ebay. That place is having a sale right now. Gladen 3way Extreme kit, with Mosconi 120.4 DSP, plus some sound deadening material for $1100. I would assume that the Gladen kit would be much higher quality and SQ than the MBq's??? Overall I just feel that If i'm going to shell out money for something like a 82dsp, I would like the ability to take it with me to my next vehicle, seeing as these can help out the factory systems in a lot of different vehicles. |

Mosconi gives more power per channel but less
Mosconi gives more power per channel but less channels.
I believe its class ab but I don't know if that even makes a difference anymore. The Helix dsp software/hardware seems to be the prime choice for dsp now . 6speed says the recode doesn't make that much difference but its easier to tune . |

This makes the MBs an incredible bargain with the Vminnovations price delivered and tax free. After I bought them I got a bit nervous after reading VmInnovation's and their delivery service's reviews online, however, they showed up in the specified time as promised. |

I guess I'm not too familiar with the Base system but why not just do:
Code to HIFI Decent 75x4 amp Amp power kit Technik Harness (maybe this doesn't apply?) Qm200.3 Done deal? This is what I'm doing and should be <$600 for amp'd 3-way set. |

If you recode to HIFI, you will loose all HU speaker output. You would want to use a 6 channel (or 4+2) amp if you need rear speakers.

I didn't realize the HU speaker output was desirable. Learning about the base system, I am. |
