DINAN Ram Air Intake for the 3.0 on an M?

can anyone tell me why is shouldn't fit the M? the little scoop it replaces has the same part number in the 3.0 and the M. so the dinan Ram Air Intake should mount perfectly.

It should I think Dinan just hasn't tested it on the Z4M so they aren't listing it as a Z4M part. I'm still wondering why the Z4M RPI scoop wont fit the non-M

Did the inside look the same as your non-m Z4? Please check the RPI thread for my pictures of behind the grills and the scoop and strut and comment thanks

They tried it on one guys car a 03 I think and they said the strut got in the way, thats why I took pictures of mine to compare with Z4M owners but no one has bothered looking.

Gentlemen, I just wanted you to know that I am totally enjoying the performance of my Dinan Ram Air Intake. I love the sound when at WOT, that massive sound of the air suction, following a surge ...

Anyways, if it is of any consolation, as for me the comprehensive research, development and engineering and the finished manufactured product are one of many reasons why I chose to purchase a Dinan product. I did not even pay suggested list price either. However, after my own research on the internet, I had read about an incorporated design feature that was very ingenious. The separation of water and air which would enter the intake duct, and I believe this is a shared problem with respect to True Ram Air Ducts and Hydrolock....

If you must know, please read the article from this link. You will find it most interesting....

Interesting...I think they may have assumed too much when the modeled the rain drops as spheres...but interesting nonetheless...

Good read and it gives one a little more piece of mind when trying to understand dinan's outrageously high prices.

Not like I'd ever pay MSRP, but would you mind letting us know where you bought the ram air intake?

Also, in regards to cold air intakes/ram air intakes and hydro lock, at least for the CAI on my jetta, it incorporates an AEM bypass valve up top in the engine bay that can draw in air should the filter down low ever get submerged in a puddle or get clogged up.

Interestingly, the article from fluent.com states that the Dinan scoop had to be redesigned to avoid problems with ingesting water *during heavy rain*. While the redesign did reduce this problem to acceptable levels, what, I wonder, happens when an oncoming vehicle hits a puddle and splashes a big load of water all over the front of your car (happens to me at least once or twice a year). I could easily see a liter or so of water coming straight into the big mouth of the scoop even if the depth of standing water in the puddle was only a few inches.

i just spoke with DINAN... the DINAN scoop should fit our M's.
supposedly they have a prototype air box that will be packaged with that scoop.... this summer
i asked what was tking so long..... he told me there just wasn't enough demand to make the M's a priority... i get it... not happy about it though.
so, i might take the leap and test it out. worst case, someone with a 3.0 can buy a slightly discounted intake scoop.

It should fit just fine, you might need to move your support bar like on the non-M. Send me your RPI scoop so I can see if it fits the non-Z4m pleaase

yip... i installed my DINAN scoop on my 3.0... pretty simple. snipping the cross bar and pulling off the bumper we're the only stresses. not sure what i'm doing yet... but if i do change my scoop you are second in line... DAMMIT asked already... and i hear he's dead broke, i figured i'd be charitable.

I'll take dibs on the scoop if that's the case.
