Lots of boost!

Hi guys,

Kinda new to boosted cars so please be patient with me LOL.
Tonight was a kinda cooler night here in Ontario and perfect to go for a drive.
My buddy did the same and we took our cars to some local winding roads.

My questions is this, both cars are almost identical even bolt on wise with the exception of mine is being a e90 n54 xi with catback exhaust and my friends is the same but the i with oem exhast.
We got to an area and lined up the cars using Map 1 on a jb4, to my surprise I absolutely ripped the doors of him...
We tried a second time and the same thing I left him way behind!!!

I kept an eye on my gauge cluster for rpm, boost etc and couldn't help notice I hit boost in the 15-20 psi mark!!!!!

I've looked it up to double check but of course as many of you know already the boost should be around 14 psi, checked the logged info and it actually went as high as 18.1 psi!!!!

Is that typically normal or do i need to start looking deeper into this?
Thanks,
Adrian

Jb4 ftw!!

BMWs target load not boost so it can fluctuate depending on various factors.

I do think the gauge hack is ghetto tho lol

Thanks guys!
May have been the cooler air, car was pulling like a monster last night!
I really even noticed the huge difference without even having to look at any gauges or what was logged.
Peak boost was at about 4300rpm, man oh man was she going!!!
My buddy thought I was lying, he said to me there's not way and that I had something else done. Like I stated though, just had the cat back SPORT exhaust over him and that's all really.
This really doesn't explain thought in regards to my friends car, conditions were the same for both vehicles ...
Today is a fairly warm day, going to give her another go and see if I can replicate.

Had a C5 Vette try and pull along side us and he didn't stand a chance!
He eventually backed off when taken by an E90 with 2 cars seats in the back .

Are you both on the latest firmware? They recently upped the boost on map 1 and 2 to be more in line with the competition.
