The DSC Trifecta - again
Hey guys,
Got a question regarding the DSC trifecta. A couple of years ago I had my ABS/DSC pump rebuilt with the genuine kit from BMW, and never had an issue with it. I never really switch off the DSC, but the other day I did, and gave the car some beans in 1st and 2nd which was fun (have a MT). The roads were a little damp and it easily spun in both gears. Anyway, I switched it back into granddad mode and kept driving and all was fine. But then 15 minutes later after some really heavy rain, I went around a badly cambered corner and the DSC failure warning chimed in - all three lights on the centre display came on orange too. I parked up at home a few minutes later, tried turning the car off and on again, and it stayed there. I wondered whether it was a wheel speed sensor that got wet or something. I initially tried clearing the code with MHD option (clear all module codes) pretty soon after, and nothing happened. But then an hour later I went back downstairs and tried again and it went away - and it hasn't come back since. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Just went through this....do you have 5DF0 and 5DF1? If so, that is the pump and not a wheel sensor. Modulemaster.com ftw....$250 repair. Add $31 for 2 day FedEx. Supposedly the fix is better than a new part which is now $2,600. How old is your pump and who rebuilt it? If it is the pump, it will come back. I went through it about 7x before it came back for good...

That's what I'm thinking/hoping. I was just celebrating 12 months without a single issue with the car when it happened!! I'm sure it's fine though. They're sensitive wee souls these cars....

Yep...I'm pretty sure if you spun the wheels in snow, the trifecta would happen, and then after driving again, they would clear....sounds like you're fine!

Reset TPMS go drive for about 15/20 mins at highway speeds and see if it clears. Try to read the codes though.
