best extended warrenty for 2007 335i
Hi Guys,
So I purchased my 2007 335i from a non-franchised dealership a few weeks ago and have been considering getting an extended warranty. I've heard that you have to be very careful which companies you choose and I'm sure not every company will even cover a 9 year old car. Bottom line are there any good warranty programs for a 2007 335i? I've checked out delta auto protect and fidelity but haven't actually seen if they will cover the car or if their programs are any good. |

I'd go to the dealership service department and ask if there's any that they work with directly or have experience with. An aftermarket warranty that has a record of paying out for work done at the dealership is probably going to help claims go smoothly.

Dealership warranty hands-down. If you're in with one dealer they can give you a pretty damn good deal. I for example did pretty well, and even crossed referenced my deal with one of my good friends in Silver Springs, and he agreed it was quite good.
I simply couldn't take the chance of something magically not being covered- it's bad enough half the shit is considered consumables and they won't cover it anyway. I hear things about Route 66, but cannot personally vouch for it. |

There are many threads on this subject, use the search feature to find them.
As previously mentioned - Route 66 comes up often. Google the name + BMW...you'll get a lot of hits. Make sure you research the company you are considering. You are bound to find reviews from happy and unhappy customers. Also, make absolutely sure you read the exclusions. Some companies will only cover limited items while others will cover many. Things you need covered - water pump, turbos and related components, valve cover, oil filter housing and oil pan gaskets and fuel system components are the big ticket items.

Very suspicious of any warranty company willing to cover a car that is 9yrs old. Also OP if you are trying to get coverage on a 9yr old car you probably stepped too far out of your $$ lane. Its an old German car , shit is bound to fail

funny but honestly E90s are so hit or miss with what you get and reliability. If money is tight then a low mileage E46 2003 to 2005 will be way more reliable and more DIY friendly.
if your pockets are fat then get your E90 after 2010 MY or just get any other BMW in that period 07 - 11 MY period! What I never understood is other BMWs in 2006 to 2011 share the same engine and parts and design architecture as the E90 yet the E90 sucks balls at being reliable!

What everyone said is completely valid. How many miles are on the car? If it is over 100, 000 , I would not purchase the warranty... Just save save save all the $ you can until you need some work done... If it doesn't have more than 100k , I have heard good things about Route 66 , but I personally have dealt with another company called Omnisure. They paid 10x over what I threw down initially for The warranty. Gotta find a good Indy that will go the extra mile for you also. Best of luck dude.

I think those of us that have purchased new had good reliability until hitting certain mileage or time limits. In my case my 03/07 never had one issue up until 54000 miles and November 13. Then the ABS/DSC/ Brake issue followed by the oil filter housing gasket. I also replaced the water pump and tstat around 62K miles just based on the fact that not far from that mileage many fail. Walnut blasting the intake valves was next.
This winter (Feb 2016) I was thinking of a M235 or 228 just because I really wanted something smaller. But I honestly feel I am good for most likely another 50-60K miles before a water pump tstat needs to be done if at that time since the 3rd gen pump is what is installed. I think most E90's have these issues in common and that once past that you can have a reliable car. What does all this mean? I would NOT get a warranty if these items have been replaced. The turbo's unless they have been beat upon when the engine oil was cold should be fine and the high pressure fuel pump is good for 10 years/ 120K miles warranty by BMW. We that bought a 2007-09 model were BMW beta testers and I for one wanted my hard top retractable convertible so in retrospect I should have waited until the fall of 2007 and purchased an M3 E93. They don't have engine issues and the only thing in common would be the POS Bosch ABS/DSC/Brake DC motor that causes us owners to pay for a repair that was caused by Bosch redesign to improve reliability and lower complexity---yeah right. Notice that virtually all issues are related to the engine which is now getting more bulletproof. You don't hear of N54-55 water pump failures much and I am not certain if the N55 is as susceptible to carbon on the intake valves. Happy engine happy car.... |
