Seriously, this is like the third time this has happened within two years time...what the fuck BMW?

So, anyone have some homegrown fixes? I refuse to go to the dealership for this.

This is a well known problem and the solenoid probably still works but is over centered and can't operate. The fix is to take it apart and use the fix that has a small rubber bumper that doesn't allow it to over center the solenoid pull.

So today I got frustrated and screamed "why are you such a piece of shit???" to my glove box and now it's magically opening without fail.

True story.

My old MINI had a mysterious squeak/rattle in the dash somewhere and it was driving me nuts. I was out for a drive with the windows down, pushing on the dash panels and trying to isolate it. At a red light after many failed guesses I flipped out and just started swearing, ripping the dash panels off and throwing them in the back seat. I got a few weird looks.
