New F87 Big Brake Kits from Brembo just released!

Brembo has been an industry leader in braking and friction technology for nearly 50 years, and was the first in the performance car industry to bring true competition car technology to every day driven street cars. Brembo also goes to lengths far beyond any other brake manufacturer to control the manufacturing and build process from start to finish- literally pouring their own raw metal in Brembo owned foundry facilities, enabling Brembo to control the metallurgy of their brake calipers and rotors from the absolute raw material stage.

For these reasons and many more, all of us at IND are thrilled to announce Brembo's new F87 M2 applications!

Brembo's new M2 applications will include a host of options, including their industry standard GT caliper kits with steel discs, the excellent GT-R caliper kits with steel discs, and finally the new CCM-R carbon disc systems as well with both GT and GT-R calipers.

The GT kits will utilize Brembo's renowned 380x34mm front and 380x28mm rear discs, with wide annulus, excellent thermal capacity, and Brembo's floating disc system. The GT monobloc caliper is one of the most rigid in the industry giving the driver great pedal feel, excellent pad wear with little taper, and reliable braking performance on and off the track.

The upgraded GT-R calipers offer all of the benefits of the GT calipers, but add a number of features that allow them to operate at an even higher temperature. GT-R calipers are machined from a single piece of billet, which allows Brembo to apply their unique nickel plating- a technology pulled directly from their Formula 1 program. The GT-R calipers also feature vented pistons for even better temperature control.

Finally, the CCM-R disc option allows for the ultimate brake setup, utilizing Brembo's new carbon ceramic discs for absolutely flawless performance.

We're excited to see these kits land at IND, and are confident that with the correct pads we can substantially improve upon the M2's already excellent braking performance.

Whats wrong with the factory brakes ?

They would be good if you were doing Le Mans

I know a guy who put GT calipers and CC 's on his 1M. It was embarrassing passing him on the track.

How does the Brembo compare to the AP Racing brakes?

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1264385

It does look, in those video`s, AP is making some fun of the Brembo caliper .

Isn`t Porsche using Brembo brakes as standard? And arn`t Porsches famous for their braking capabilities ??

Brembo is the proprietor of the Brembo, Breco, Bybre and Marchesini brands and also sells products under the AP Racing brand.

Re: video where Jeff [jritt@essex](contact:72410) outlines the differences between brembo and AP racing calipers, there's a night and day difference between calipers that are built, designed, and developed for performance street needs vs the race track. the differences speak for themselves in the vid. It's a different tool for different purposes and needs.

And I read M2's OEM brakecalipers are made by Brembo?

I think, such a car with 'only about 370BHP' and considering the weight it really doesn't need any BBK(when tracking). Just Pagids/M Perf pads whatever and you're good to go, unless as stated you're driving LM 24 Hours...

I have Pagid Yellow R19 or 29 on my 1M. Great 'affordable' stuff.

Cheers
Robin

Pagid RS29 and stock calipers are a great combo. M3/M4 guys love the setup.

Those Brembo calipers are sure pretty though!

Not all Brembo calipers are the same. The OEM's specify how they want their calipers made, so a "Brembo" on a Subaru is NOT close to the Brembo on a Prosche GT3.
But as the vids in your link show, a track oriented caliper is going to be VERY different than a street oriented caliper.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
