In good news for those of us still waiting for our cars, it seems as though vehicles built from July will have the version 5.0 update. This brings better graphics, UI redesign, but no gesture control, which is fine by me. Considering this will be my business/work/ car, this is great.

Read more here no word on Apple CarPlay, but who knows?

At this rate when my car arrives in Dec, I'll be able to option a convertible, individual paint and interior, uber iDrive, X-Drive, some kind of hybrid system and some kind of upgraded engine.

If the speakers/sound still sucks then I guess I don't feel bad that I have the old system. That's the only upgrade id want.

I'm hoping they can have CarPlay enabled in the MY16 - even if it costs me a few extra bucks. BMW really screwed their MY16 customers over with the M2.

Nope! It is part of the 'Executive Package' for $1,250 which includes the following:

Park Distance Control (rear)
Rear view camera
Speed Limit Info
Heated Steering Wheel
Active Driving Assistant
Automatic high beams

Keep in mind that US models do not have the sunroof option as well.

Check Bavsound. I've upgraded the sub-woofers with their Ghost Subwoofers in my M3 and there is a big difference in performance. Not sure if they have anything available for the M2 yet but they are a very reputable with excellent customer service and response.

No,no the sound system has been designed from the ground up for the MY 17 model and is super High End....sort of an apology from BMW for the MY 16 model

So for those wondering about a possible update to enable CarPlay on MY16, here are some good news:

Hyundai has successfully deployed CarPlay to older MY15 Sonatas without any hiccups or hardware upgrades.

Your M3 has a very different sound system than the HK in the M2, which is basically junk.

It's not Logic7, for starters. It's significantly underpowered. It uses DSP to mask frequency response deficiencies from the analog amp, among other things. The center channel speaker does not receive dedicated channel content; it's a sum of the left and right front channels, which kills the soundstage. And the ASD contributes significantly to both the noise floor and ambient cabin volume at highway speeds, to the point where both audio fidelity and white noise are affected.

Bavsound speakers fix none of those things. Besides; there are better choices for less money and only slightly more installation difficulty.

Thanks for the information. I was not aware of the current audio in the M2 was so crappy. I was hoping they may have DIRAC or something better. Lets hope that MY2017 offers something better.
