HVAC Blower Motor

After 1200 miles it stopped working. No air either hot or cold will come out of it. All HVAC controls work fine. For two days I had no ventilated air.

Parked it overnight and idrive displayed "increased battery discharge". I usually saw this on my 335i when I parked it for 30+ days. Anyways as soon as that happened the blower motor kicked back on. Im guessing the ECU reset or something and the blower motor settings reset itself.

Thoughts? I was going to take it in to the dealer but it fixed itself just prior to my appointment. My dealer doesnt offer loaner cars (HAWAII) and instead offers shuttle service so its kind of a hassle to being it in if I dont need to. They didnt have any idea of what it could be over the phone.

Last time the blower acted up on my old e46 it was the final stage resistor. Replaced it and everything's fine.

if the Battery Voltage is running low in the car, Engine Running or not Running,
The DME will comand the FRM to start reducing power to certain components in the vehicle such as stuff like HVAC, heated Seats, A/C compressor, ETC to help save the battery.
It is more of a Fail Safe Mode for the battery.
These vehicles and pretty much any newer vehicle these days have very sensitive batteries due to the high demand of electronics in our vehicles these days.

If you can, Id place the vehicle on a Low amp battery charger for at least 8 hours.
If the vehicle is still under-warranty, i would take it in and have it checked.
Even if the Battery discharge message is no longer on, The tech can still pull up all services messages displayed in the vehicle through the scan tool.

Beware tho you may get a Un-favorable driving pattern from the tech tho which is common for people living in the cities.
My recommendation is if ur driving the vehicle every day for short short distances, like 3-7kms.. I would look into investing in a BMW Maint Charger (Defa Charger) Or if u just park the vehicle for extended amount of days... Constant Short Trips can actually cause harm to the batteries over time.

Very good advice. If I anticipate not driving drive my car for 2-3 days or more, I put it on my battery maintainer.
