Panoramic sunroof, f31

Do both sections tilt open or is the rear one static?

Thanks

Rear one is static. Interior blind opens all the way back.

Cheers. They must both tilt on some other BMW models then as I've seen it a video once. X's maybe.

Yes the older models like my E91 would tilt both panels. Was a nice touch, but a complex mechanism and not so reliable.

All the same I love it and pleased I specified it.

Likewise - pleased I've got it on my f31. Mrs and baby love it when they are in the back. Plus I can hear the engine better when it's open!

Very pleased I ordered the panoramic roof too. The mesh deflector is great for cutting out the buffeting even at motorway speeds which used to plague older cars with sunroofs. Go for it - you won't regret it.

I appreciate the light from above, in any car. My E39 touring had a glass sunroof, so a natural progression to the panoramic in the E91, one of the best features of the car.

I'd not have an M-sport touring without, as the anthracite interior roof liner makes the car (to me) very claustrophobic and coffin like. F11 panoramic only has the slide and tilt front panel like the F31. Would be great as the E91, with the twin tilt.

The pano roof on the F31 does make such a massive difference to the interior light. I open the tilt function every time I get in the car even in the winter. It will be my number 1 option in the future

I find the mesh deflector is just a grave yard for flies.

I found this one, complete, brand new, for only £250.
I wonder how hard it is to fit it in, I can handle the cables, connections and coding, I just want someone that can put it on the car. Or find some tutorials, but as almost everybody hates the tourings, only few people have them me included, not much retrofiting tutorials

Hmmm there's a bit more to it....
Braces in the suspension, other roll bar in the rear to compensate for the extra weight. Probably more.....

Is the pano roof an option on all F-series bmw's (apart from convertible of course)? Never seen it on an F36 - even finding one with a sunroof was a needle in a haystack

Nope. Only on the F31.
The others have a normal size sunroof

Are you intending fitting a new roof skin, with the aperture already fabricated?

Whichever way, a big job for a body shop, plus you'll need a different headlining, roof drive motor, etc. As well as consider the suspension/chassis parts, as already mentioned, if you want to retain the same chassis dynamics.
