What is this metal in my passenger seat?

I have these metal bands on my passenger side seat. I have an e92 LCI. See pics:

These metal bits are not present on my driver's seat.

Is that an answer or a guess?

I can't seem to find anything about it online nor do I see any metal bits in pictures of other e92 seats.

Interesting, never seen those on a front seat before.

Looks like it's for the baby seat.

How do I get rid of them? They are unsightly.

Just went for a wander round my work's carpark and peered into any BMWs I could find. About 50% of them had the same metal hooks in the passenger seat.

Those were added, they dont come standard. Probably removable with some screw and bolt work.

This is probably a British regulation.

They do things differently over there

If you have the passenger seat ISOFIX, you have a switch to turn off the airbag.

Hysterical. It's called latch. Required in US cars. Oh, to have no children.

If you remove the hooks, then your attention will be drawn to the dirty seats. In light of this, you should likely leave the hooks.

Airbags can be disabled either thru weight on the seat or switch, depending on manufacturer.

It's been that way since the 90's.
