Should our hidden menus show P codes as BMW codes?

In other words, my scanner P codes don't show up on the hidden menu. I do have 1 code, is it the BMW translation of those generic faults or something completely different?

What is the code?

Not sure what you mean by hidden menu code. Are you referring to CC ID codes, that come up when you press hold the stalk button a few seconds on the Check Control section of the computer dash? CC (Check Control) ID's are different than OBD diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). They give information about the check control warning you received, like which light bulb is blown, or which tire is under inflated etc. There is a list of those at Bentley manual, I don't know if there is a list at the owner's manual, can't check it now. There are some online lists too, like this one:

http://www.endtuning.com/ccidcodes.html

If you are asking about DTC, these are not displayed on any hidden menu as far as I know. You need an OBD reader, or INPA or similar setup and connect to OBD port to read these. Generic OBD readers will read a P code, BMW specific tools will read BMW version fault code of that same fault.
There is a translation table for P-Code to BMW fault code.
For instance too rich on bank 1 in P-Code is P0172, BMW version for same code is 29E0 or 2A2B.
This table also available in Bentley manual but easily can be found online too if you search for the code(s).

Thanks for the reply. I actually didn't know what that check control meant. It said check OK. Does that mean there are no codes at all? Because my elm 327 paired with Dashcommand shows 2 codes that it won't clear P1776 and P1777.
When I access the secret menu through holding trip reset, imputing total of Vin numbers and going to screen 14 it shows one A559 fault which has something to do with the battery?
Here's why I' m confused. Can you straighten me out on how to correctly think through this.
Many thanks for your help.

The Check Control OK has nothing to do with codes. It means that the things that the OBC monitors are fine - oil level, washer fluid level, coolant level (I think) etc.

I wasn't aware of page 14 of the hidden menu. I checked mine, gave some Axxx code but that is not very useful to read. My car right now has P0172 too rich read with an OBD reader. So the hidden menu is related to that one I think, but again hidden menu is not giving useable code (unless someone knows how to decipher it), and the code is readable from ObD port anyway.

In your case for P1776 and P1777 there is no entry in Bentley manual that I have. But it says when third character is 7, it indicates transmission area. I think these are codes thrown by the transmission ECU, assuming you have auto transmission.
