strange front end noise
I'm getting an odd noise that sounds like it might be something rubbing from my right front wheel. It only happens when turning left with moderate steering input and hard but not maximum acceleration from a low speed or a stop, like when pulling away from a stop light. It is cyclical but it's not at the same frequency as wheel rotation, maybe 3 to 4 times per second. Unwinding the wheel or reducing acceleration makes it stop.
First noticed it when I swapped out my winter setup for new Continental DWS tires on my summer rims. Was not an issue last summer when I ran the exact same setup on Continental DW. The only change was DW to DWS. I've looked everywhere for signs of rubbing and can't find anything. Pulled the wheels, checked the brakes, checked for loose suspension components, nadda. Front wheels are style 162s, 18X8 et 34 with a 12mm Apex spacer. Tires are Continental DWS 225/40/18 (also stock size) Car is a 2011 e90 335d M-sport on original stock suspension with 72K miles. |
