Exclamation Too many DP's to choose from...help.

Isn't a DP just a DP? $300 to $1000. I'm sure there is a quality argument here but I just want to keep this simple. Cobb is $890, Wagner is $600ish-depending, Active auto- $500, VRSF-$300. Why not just go with that VRSF? What am I missing?

There are millions of pairs of shoes from 20 buck to thousands and they serve the same purpose. Your paying for the brand name for a dp it's a pipe i wouldn't worry as long as you find fitment reviews really there isn't anything that can go wrong aside from material difference for example stainless steel to titanium

Increased price marketing towards import/German car owners (usually the younger crowd). Same goes for the Subaru aftermarket. They are willing to pay far more for a product that isn't any better than domestic aftermarket parts.

Go with VRSF. They are on par to what pricing should be. Most just try to reach the highest profit margin they can.

Nothing. You're missing nothing. They all perform the same. They all fit well. If you plan on entering your car in a show with mirrors unet it, etc, go for the pricey. If you feel as I do that an extra $600 for something to look pretty that you can't see is a waste, get VRSF like I did.

N54Tunning Performance just came out with one; looks nicely built. Scroll down for VRSF, for the record I have a VRSF.

Disclaimer: Get ready for weird idle, fumes and SES light. If you can work thru those gremlins the spool up is very well worth it.

I plan on switching to that beauty from N54tuning when I swap my turbo out. The finish is absolutely incredible especially for that price.

I was hoping I would get his response so thanks everyone. It appears VRSF fits my XI no problem. Getting a custom exhaust it appears since Meisterschaft kept screwing me over on Feb 1st order date. Plan B is in the works. Once I get it set and running I will post some vids. I'm running JB4 (map5), Wag IC, VRSF-CP, Afe intake so this will be the last mod ... until next month.

Here's my input on some of the issues..

SES Light- If you haven't yet, upgrade your JB4 to ISO firmware 5-10. For whatever reason with the auto clear off it doesn't throw code for O2 sensor.

Weird Idle- Disconnect JB4 MAF (Once you have the latest firmware) and reconnect stock MAF plug. Reset adaptations. This worked for me.

Fumes- Live with it

Majority of that price difference is the cost difference between Catless and catted.

Once you figure that out it's pretty simple.

When going catted, stick with high quality cats. The cheap cats degrade faster.

In essence, you get what you pay for.

We sell a bunch of VRSF DP's, very popular for going catless.

I do have an irregular idle after a warm start...10 seconds it goes away. I just got my JB4 so you're saying I need to upgrade to ISO firmware?

I personally recommend the N54tuning downpipe or VRSF because they are good quality and the best bang for the buck. I have yet to see someone give a legit, measurable reason why they spent double the price for a DP. If you're spending extra money just to feel like you are getting something better then the manufacturer's marketing team has won. I highly doubt your car is going to perform any better.

What Jeff said. I wanted a catted DP and it was a tough decision as there is very little discussion about the cats themselves and some vendors won't even tell you what kind of cats they use. For catless take your pick.

In your opinion what is the best performance/value catted dp on the market? I have done the catless thing before and really would prefer to stay clear of that for my interest.

Thanks,

Which catted dp did you end up going with?

Keep your eye out it the used market. I picked up an AR design DP dirt cheap and like everyone is saying they all perform the same; fitment might be slightly better on higher priced ones, but I don't think the higher price is worth it.
