Aluminum pedals

Hey everyone,
I'm new and a proud owner of a Silver 330xi. Was thinking of buying the aluminum pedals from BMW, but don't know if I want to spend money on labor. Are they easy to install on my own, or will it be better to spend money on labor? Also, does anyone not recommend these pedals or has a better idea? Your input and thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have installed aluminium pedals myself & it does go really well with aluminium trim. I was thinking of spending on labor too... but it was 125% of the price of pedals itself.
This forum has DIY for them & are pretty accurate. I think one shouldnt spend $110 on labor when its a matter of drilling few holes & driving in few screws. Its too simple...
and the joy u'll get from working on ur car is priceless.....

speaking of pedals and footrests, anybody bought a M e90 aluminium foot rest. The e46 m footrest for the m3 was only available in left hand drive version, I managed to modify it for my prev e46 318i. Hoping to do the same for the e90.

Its still LHD only, but you get a very nice RHD one from AC Schnitzer

My dealer told me it would take them 30 minutes max to install them. So abuot $50 for install. I'm going to do it because I don't have access to the tools to get it done.

fifty isnt too bad. even though its a fun time, and its good to work on your car.
When i called to get a price they were like "uhh, eh, uh, it could take an hour, or two, and its like 180 dollars an hour, or something" and they had no idea. and it was crazy. but fifty sounds very fair.

I had problems with the bottom bolts on the gas pedal. I had to use a hemostat to hold the nut in place while I screwed in the bolt. It's a very tight place to put your fingers. I also ended up with another black plastic gas pedal (that came with the alum pedal kit) and it wasn't the same as the original pedal...so I didn't use it. I put the alum plate over the original pedal. (did I screw up?...don't think so...it works/looks perfect)

The plastic gas pedal is not used if you have the module type gas pedal in your car. As in your case you do. Bolts and nuts are not meant to be used for gas pedal. This may prevent the throttle to open completely. There are four self-tapping screws in the kit for gas pedal.

i installed my ACS pedals lst nite...took 1 hour...all you need is good drill and the right size bits, make sure you have bits that can drill thru metal as the brake pedal is metal. but its pretty easy DIY

the dead and gas pedals were easy.........drilled then screwed.

but the brake pedal was a little harder....i had to use a titanium drill bit.
and the screws and bolts that came with the kit were too SHORT!
i had to go to Home Depot and buy longer screws and bolts.

time: 1 hour

the install is pretty easy... just the brake pedal requires some elbow grease 'cause it's made of steel.

Personally, part of the fun of modding is the satisfaction of doing it myself. Accomplishment.

quick question about aluminum pedals, like mentioned above......do your feet slip more with these pedals because of the metal surface or is there some type of grip to keep them from slipping? I was thinking in the winter frequently having wet soles of my shoes and I do not want to compromise safety
