Need rims & tyres - Urgent question!?
Hi,
So today I took of my car my OEM 400m rims and the original run flat tyres. I then installed a set of 19" replica 405 rims with non run flat tyres. I checked pressures at the garage and all was fin, 20 mins in to my drive I got a warning says my right front tyre was flat/losing pressure. I pulled over and I went in to my vehicle information, I did a tyre pressure check and reset the system and it now says all tyre pressures are fine and all 4 wheels show as green. I was wonder by taking off my OEM wheels and tyres would this affect the sensor etc and was this why I got a false message. I have been on 3 drives since and not a single error message/warning at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Liam |

Assuming your car uses the FTM system we have here in Canada and not TPMS, then this is normal. I experienced the same thing the first time I put on my winter wheels, reset the system and all was fine. Now every time I do my seasonal wheel changeover I just reset the system before driving the car.

The Flat Tire Montoring (FTM) uses the ABS sensors to monitor the tires while the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) uses sensors in the wheels to monitor the actual tire pressure.

pretty sure regardless any time you swap the wheels you have to reset because the sensors are new - the system needs to recalibrate, regardless of ftm or tpms.
