cd, Tv, phone, internet and everything else I need but don't know about? Never done any interior mods before but this looks like a must for summer trips. All advice welcomed; however, be aware that I do not want or need an audiophile set up. Just something midrange for an average Guido driving an '11 328ix w/o Idrive.

Dynavin would be closest but

Dynavin would be closest but it really doesn't offer diags but there
are some motor parameter readouts like temp and a few others I think. Read the Dynavin thread.
Not easy to go cheap on these cars and have a good result.

What do you think a ballpark price would be including install? Do you think I could get a similar result with an Ipad mini. I'm thinking of getting one with the phone connection then I guess it's just a matter of finding the right apps. What do you think about that route? Any mounting suggestions? Something suitable for large mall lots where removal is a must.
BTW, grew up in California and frequently went swimming at Santa Cruz. My brother and I would stay in so long we were purple when we finally got out...many good memories as a kid.

Changing the Head Unit is not and easy task
in these cars because of all the side effects .

Depending on what sound system you start with (base, hifi, logic 7), your options will differ.

Dynavin is a great option that will look close to oem.

Standard double din units may offer more functionality than dynavin, but may cause issues depending on what system you're starting with (most issues have a solution, just means more work and expense)

iPad mini or android tablet is the most functional but the least oem-looking. Though a few have done pretty well with some custom installations.
