Rear parking sensors detecting the ground!?
Had my rear bumper replaced and the invisihitch installed. Now the outer left and right rear parking sensors appear to be detecting the ground.
Easy DIY/live with/bring it back in? |

Did you install it yourself, or had someone else do it?

BMW Collision Center that I'll be going back to. It's not close by so I was hoping to find an easy solution.

BMW Collision Center had the car for another day and was clueless and chalked it up to the invisihitch and wiring harness I had them install.
Decided to drop by the BMW Dealer they are affiliated with to do a direct physical comparison for a game of find-the-differences. The shop foreman came out as he'd never had someone with my complaint come in. Sure enough, the transplanted old sensors were a bit receded and not as flush with the new bumper as the 340i M sport they pulled alongside. The angle didn't look right to the foreman either. He mentioned that new LCI bumpers don't arrive with PDC assembled, but require holes to be drilled before installing sockets and sensors. Offered to put me in a loaner and fix it himself instead of their collision center. He also didn't buy the excuse of the hitch or the wiring harness. Odds of that impacting park distance control seemed very low to him and if it would have any effect it would most likely cause PDC to stop working altogether. To be continued. |
