adding springs.

hey guys, if I order set of h & r 28832 springs for my f30, do I just remove the oem springs and put these in, then off to get a wheel alighnment. and that's it?? or due I have to replace the shocks as well?? all I want is a slight drop, nothing stupid, I live in Canada and its my wifes car, so getting stuck is not a cool option,, get it cool. snow.. lol. I have the sport package with the car so it rides on 18s

generally, if you lower your car with just springs the stock shocks will not last as long. some people also have problems such as bounciness, bottoming, poor ride and handling and more, because the shock and spring rates are mismatched.

personally, when lowering i always opt for a coilover or matched complete suspension, i.e. strut/spring combo. although it costs more initially, "once and done" (correctly) is cheaper than reduced life struts, problems listed above, re-alignments, etc. and better for my peace of mind.

if this doesn't concern you or is above your financial means then swapping out springs and getting an alignment is all you have to do, that's it...

if you are doing just springs you may consider a cut bumpstop kit like Dinan has to reduce the preload on the factory shock. it should help the shock last longer and maintain more shock travel

There has been a lot of positive feedback from owners who have fitted the ACS springs.

Something I was about to pull the trigger on but after checking with the underwriters of my extended BMW warranty, I would invalidate it.
