So.... I paid a premium for a M2

The grey DCT from Romans in the UK
- bottom line for me was that I needed a car now. What better car to run for less than £60k than one that runs a premium?...

Basically, having ordered one last month, and being told I'd wait a year, I figured a £3k premium was ok.

Can't post pics from iPad but will do shortly.

Coming out of a f10 m5.

Thank you for the informative threads.

Fair play to you for coming on here and making this public. I wouldn't have the balls.

Thing is.... I ordered one too. Delivery is in 2017. No idea when.
- so I'll be selling my 16 next year.

Best way to have a great car and suffer low depreciation, imho, is to get one now.

Heard it all re flipping regarding my gt4 (which I bought at list and will own forever). The world has more important stuff to worry about than cars.

Good call,

I think 3K over in the grand scheme of things isn't too bad and worth the price of admission if your wait could have been a year or more and I might have done the same in these circumstances.
I saw it when they put it on Auto trader...nice car

You lucky dog.

If I were not married with children, I would have signed the GT4 order in February 2015. A slot was available back then, I had configured one and just needed to sign. But I informed my wife before going ahead with the deal and she vetoed straightaway "because it has no backseats for our daughter".

Learned from my experience: few months later I ordered my M2 without informing my wife. It has backseats, you know.

So If I did the math correctly 3K Euro is $3.4K U.S. Sounds "fair" to me. I'm in an M235i 6MT car dreaming of the day I can get into an M2. Congrats.

He's in the UK so its £3k, not euro so nearer $4k. Still worth it I'd say, would prob have done the same myself if I didn't have one coming soon.

So as others have said, congrats! Can I ask though, why sell to get your 2017 M2? Wrong colour? I've seen the grey in real life and it looks mega. Wrong gearbox perhaps? Either way, enjoy!

Thanks for the clarification. Have not been to the UK-- only Italy, France, Spain. In 2001 I paid $1K over for a Harley Davidson Fatboy here is the U.S. Weird to think that was happening back then. It was just the thing to have. So $16K vs. $15K.

Congrats fella and if you want one you want one, what difference does a £ make.
I'm in the Uk and I did the same as you, F10 M5 to M2. Obviously not comparable in a straight line but the M2 will feel like a breath of fresh air in terms of agility and handling - good choice

I love the GT4 and I wanted one.. I have no children...but buying a GT4 meant selling my Z4M roadster to create extra cash and having only one car in my garage. A GT4 is not a car I can use on a daily base....the M2 is a car that is nicely priced, can be used evey day, feel special and is a great addition with my Z4M

Big for owning, driving a GT4!
Indeed there are more important things then the value of cars... If you buy them, drive them, enjoy them....!

So when your own M2 order get delivered in 2017 you are going to sell your current 2016 M2? Why exactly? Is your current M2 not in the specification you wanted?

Perhaps I'll enjoy a low depreciation switch to a car one year younger. That's what I'm hoping for. And I'm hopefully going to reply. Y car in bits to the new car.

Also, I had already ordered the m2 before I decided to but one second hand.

My buddy just got on the list for a 991.2 GT3 (he'll get the manual) so I'm hoping to get the GT4 from him if I can. That'd be awesome, I love driving his car!

A manual 991.2 GT3 ?
Are you 100% sure are going to produce a GT3 with manual transmission again?

Cheers

If I'm not mistaken, the engine setup will be the 4L with a 6MT from the 911R. If that's the case and you have the means to afford one, that'll be the sports car to end all sports cars IMO.

But I can't haha. However, if I have the chance to buy a GT4 that I've known its history since new, I'd be crazy not to consider it.

P.S. also drove the new 3L turbo 991.2 Carrera. It's a really sweet car, just quiet as a mouse.
