Texas Hail Damage...ouch!
First of all......HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA
Texas car dealers are closed on Sundays. You can haunt the inventory without salesmen following you. Dropped the wife off a a shopping center and visited the BMW dealer in San Antonio. I saw 40-50 BMW's, new and used, damaged by hail! Sad sight. Models range from 320i to M4's and an M6 convertible. I have often wondered what the final outcome is regarding the damaged cars. Dealers must receive some form of payments from their insurance companies. Then they pass on a reduced price to consumers. It seems to me that a substantial discount is required for consumers for repairs. I saw some hoods that had 100+ dents. This would require a paintless dent removal fella several days to repair with a bill that could be higher than a used hood. Also if the consumer opts to have a regular body shop complete the repairs, the damage has to be reported via Carfax thus diminished value. Has anyone experienced a successful purchase/repair of a hail damaged car? Mikey |

Sometimes you can pick them up very cheap! Brand new car with dents, take it to the PDR guy and save some money in the end.
I had a Honda get damaged by hail and the PDR guy did an amazing job. Go talk to the dealer... |

On a used e90 that was say 10 years old with over 100k on it, the insurance would total the car.

I am a SA resident as well, and was lucky that my part of the city didn't receive the brunt of the storm. Fortunately we only had pea sized hail.
I've seen some of the deals that BMW of SA has, and for the mildly damaged cars, the proces are very tempting. I wonder how long the dealership will keep the damaged cars on the lot before getting rid of them. |
