Time attack is a theme...usually flat black, or sometimes gloss black is used as well, on the face of the wheel with red stripe around the lip. If the wheel has no lip, then the red stripe is on the most outer part of the wheel. When you buy wheels that come Time Attacked from the factory, ie Volks, the red stripe is painted. When someone tries to Time Attack the wheels on their own..vinyl is usually used for the red stripe as it's not permanent and easier all around.

As far as prices go...I would say $300-400 is the on going rate for a good powdercoating job of a set of wheels. And spend another$30 or so on red stripes and you should be good.

The true definition of a time attack is that it is a time trial. Other terms related are super lap or a tuner battle. That's why they call tracking time trials time attacks.

Yeah, now that it caught on. Different flavor time attack is the 2008 version of black wheels with chrome lip, lol.

No one really liked the theme when it first debut.

ok the real question is why are these wheels called time attack?? is it because cars back then were tracking with black wheels and would rub up against the red and white stripes to create what we now know as time attack?? lol

I don't understand 'would rub up against...' part. I don't know where the white stripe you mentioned came from, but time attack has always been black with red stripe. They came out around 05-06 and were used on the tuner cars on the track for time attack sessions. I believe they were just going for a wacky theme..since Volks is known to have some wild colors..ie orange and magnesium blue. I don't think they were meant to be go on sale...somehow they got a lot of attention and became on sale in 2007 to the public since there were HUGE demands for them.
