You are so lucky. That's not engine knock. Is the AC Compresser. Literally that same noise on my car, just fixed it 2 days ago. I'm almost willing to say I'm 95% sure it's that.

I took my car to my local Indy and I bought the AC Compresser my self from pitstop it was $210 and labor for it was only $300. Not the cheapest fix but better then an engine knock. Good luck take it to your Indy it has to be that

Is your car manual?
If so ask a friend to go in the car and press the clutch and you video. A lot of these noises come from a dual mass flywheel. At least you can eliminate sources Good Luck |

No if your ac is turned off it won't matter at all. Go to your local Indy I'm sure it's your AC Compresser. This is how my car sounded around 4-5 days ago before I fixed it. Also I know mine sounds more louder but that's because I drove mine like that for 2 days without doing anything the noise got worse.

Here is the knock from the front of the motor it's not with the rpm of the motor it only does it after it goes through its warm up sequence after I start it not right away after I start it |

To recap, are you saying:
- the noise only appears after warm up? - the noise doesn't increase in frequency with engine RPM? - the noise doesn't go away when you put the clutch in? |

If you spun a rod bearing it would probably be much louder. We had that happen on my son's 1996 328i E36. It was very loud. We had to replace the crank, a camshaft, piston rod, bearings, cam ledge, lifters and completely disassemble the engine and clean it out. Drain your engine oil and check your oil filter. If you have metal shavings or pieces of metal then my condolences.

I checked the oil filter for metal shavings and didn't see any signs of metal flake. The noise only appears after warmup when the RPMs are below 1000. I can't tell if the noise increases with the engine because my Wastegates rattle so loud that's all you hear. The noise does not go away when I push the clutch in.

at work havent listened to the video, but from what Ive read in the thread it doesn't sound like an engine knock. No metal shavings, if it was spun/thrown rod it would be RPM dependent and super loud.
