340i finally out of break-in. Two words: God damn!

Really impressed with the b58. It just pulls and pulls and pulls. On some of my past turbo cars a wot up shift would result in a little pause while the rpms built into the boost zone in the higher gear. Not the case with the 340i, the next gear just catches and it goes. A lot of fun. Great power all through the rpm range, and as others have noted it does not run out of steam up top. Hard to have fun without getting into highly illegal territory very quickly!

The down side is opening up the car reveals how soft the xDrive suspension is. But that can be fixed, and I continue to like the chassis balance relative to my prior A4s. It was rainy here today and I could feel the backend pretty close to coming around on a couple hard corners, which pretty much never happened on my Audis except in the snow.

So overall I'm loving the car. MPPSK and suspensions mods will be an awesome journey that I'm very much looking forward to.

Wonder if it's faster than the C450 AMG.

1200 Miles. A very painful 1200 miles. I bought my 340 and then got very, very busy. The break-in period lasted longer than it should have.

nice to rip through 2 and 3 on highway on ramps.

can easily pull in 6th and pass people on highway without a downshift

Thanks all. Yeah, that was a loooong 1200 miles. Took me forever with life getting in the way (work, two small kids etc).

I do have adaptive suspension. Never driven a c450 amg, and never spent much time behind the wheel of an N55 so can't offer thoughts there. But I'll be on the lookout for real world test cases!

Re. C450: I test drove both before settling on the 340i. The torque curve of the 340i is better, and it feels faster to the butt dyno, regardless of the hp/tq official specs. The C450 is nice too, the interior materials feel better and I think the suspension may even be slightly better sorted than the 340i - but for me the 340i was the better overall package.

I also test drove the C450 AMG. It has a beautiful interior and rides very smoothly. I just didn't like the turbo lag.

I can see why so many like the C450 interior, but it's just not my thing. To me it's like the Starship Enterprise styled by LMVH or something.

I had a very, very brief moment yday where I said to myself "why do I need to make this car any faster again?"

But don't worry, like I said it was brief. MPPSK still beckons.

If they don't release the MPPSK soon I'll probably have to do something stupid like an Intake, DP, exhaust and JB4 and that would really suck!

The C450 AMG runs out of steam at 4,500 RPM.

First 1000-1200 miles, keep it under 4,500 and under 80 mph.

Yeah. Peak numbers aren't everything. I really wanted to like it but I didn't.

Re: interior: I said the C450 materials are nicer. I didn't say I liked the interior design better (I don't).

Clearly I voted with my wallet

You don't want to do that because the fun will increase exponentially.
