Need quick advice on '11 N55 E92 auto purchase

I currently have an '07 335i auto E92 FBO with inlets, but it's getting a little long in the tooth and has 135K miles. I just snatched up an '11 335i X-drive auto E92 for a song, but what will I be giving up if I follow through with the purchase? I'm talking performance only?

Are these just as responsive to mods, or will I be taking a step backwards?

Consider some other sports cars.. It's barely a upgrade imo

Performance-wise, the x-drive model is significantly heavier than the RWD so that could decrease performance. The N55 also needs more mods to achieve N54-level power but it is no slouch. Good luck!

X-Drive drive train is pretty trash and can be an area of concern down the road when you start to push upwards of 500whp.

It would be ideal to stick with RWD as that's one less component you'd have to worry about (without mentioning the added weight and floaty suspension). As for N55 performance gains, Pure Stage 2, Port Injection, Stage 2/3 LPFP upgrade, JB4 and E85 and you'll be comfortably sitting around 550whp. If however you're looking to stay with the stock snail, you're going to be in for a bad time when comparing to the N54 stock gains. The N55 stock turbo is small and as expected noticeably runs out of breath in the high RPM band.

The N55 is lacking flash tuning support for the time being, however it's becoming increasingly apparent that MHD support is around the corner--within the next year would be a reasonable estimate (if not sooner). In the end, the N55 takes and makes power very well, it just can't compete with the N54 when both are on stock turbo. The N55 stock turbo will get you a figure not too far off from 360whp with FBO however, just don't expect more than that.

Things to note:
Lack of larger turbo options
Lack of flash tuning
Engine power limits are currently unknown
Everything will fall into place and come in time; it's exciting to be apart of the N55 community and witness how fast the platform is going. As cliche as it is, the sky is truly the limit.

Why would you bother buying a new car that's barely any different? You're also losing out the mods you've invested time and money into, will be a step backwards.
Only upside would be if you need AWD for the snow.

Don't see what the problem is with the car having 135k miles.

Thanks for all the input. Looks like I'll just keep mine and bolt on some new turbos.
